The Arapahoe Park and Recreation District (APRD) strives to enhance a family’s quality of life by offering exceptional amenities and programs within a safe, clean and healthy environment. APRD is a park and recreation special taxing district in the SE Denver Metro area and not associated with any municipality or county. APRD serves residents of Centennial, Aurora, Arapahoe County, and many other surrounding areas with an 80,000+ sq ft recreation center, 15+ parks, miles of trails, and acres of native open space.

The compensation and benefits plan are competitive, and the anticipated starting salary for the successful candidate is budgeted from $70,000 to $85,000 annually, depending upon experience, qualifications, and professional achievement. In addition, all full-time employees are eligible for a full benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, retirement plan, paid vacation/sick leave, and recreation benefits for the employee and immediate family. This is a Full-Time Exempt position.


Under the general direction and supervision of the Executive Director, the Marketing Manager oversees the development and implementation of robust marketing initiatives and strategies for the Arapahoe Park and Recreation District. This position is responsible for the development and execution of internal and external communications across all channels to promote the mission and awareness of the district.

The Marketing Manager will manage use of APRD’s digital platforms, including the website, social media accounts, email, and other dissemination tools, publish and promote marketing materials, editorials, and fundraising content/campaigns. This Marketing Manager will have direct oversight of the District’s marketing and campaign strategies, sponsorship initiatives, and annual departmental budget.


  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, advertising, or a related field preferred
  • Three (3) years of professional experience at the type and level of a Marketing/Communications Specialist in communications, marketing, and/or public relations. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience in photography, videography, and editing software.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in the use of a variety of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc.)


  • Advanced degree in marketing, communications, business, or related field.
  • Advanced experience in photography, videography, and editing software.


  • Build and implement marketing campaign strategies.
  • Drive brand awareness and engagement with the general public and other partners by developing and executing effective marketing communication strategies.
  • Utilize sophisticated computer programs to design and publish a variety of written and multimedia content including the seasonal Trails Guide,
  • Website, Email & Social Media Management -Publish a variety of digital content with a focus on producing engaging webpages that are visually appealing and provide an overall rich experience for visitors and partners. Manage all posting to ensure content is on-brand and search- and social-optimized.
  • Identify, develop, and execute communications & marketing strategy for the district to ensure goals are in line with the strategic plan and annual development plan.
  • Evaluate marketing costs, identify marketing efficiencies, practice sound fiscal management, and assist in preparing the marketing aspects of the annual budget.
  • Manages the District’s social media presence on the District website and all additional social media platforms (Facebook Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Nextdoor, LinkedIn, Yelp, Google, etc.).
  • Produces valuable and engaging online content that attracts and retains target audience; responds to customer responses and inquiries through social media platforms in a timely, professional, and grammatically correct manner.
  • Responsible for the acquisition and management of photos and graphics for the website, social media, and marketing materials.
  • Develops and authors various internal and external communications, including presentations, announcements, and newsletters, to be delivered across various communications channels.
  • Promote new content, key pages, and calls-to-action across channels. Position content to target different segments and to fit the format and publishing requirements of each platform.
  • Manages the District’s website, generates new content and monitors functionality, optimization, ADA compliance, and appearance based on District brand standards.
  • Work with Executive Director, or their assignee, to produce all email campaigns, soliciting content from internal sources.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with schools and local government agencies, major employers, media, and other community groups to encourage partnerships and participation in parks and recreation programs.
  • Maintains brand integrity across all marketing initiatives and communications; provides marketing and branding direction to staff to ensure brand consistency throughout the organization.
  • Proofreads and edits marketing materials and written content.
  • Create content for social media accounts and post regularly on each account. Develop and execute social media campaigns for key days, themes, and priority upcoming content.
  • Manage social ad campaigns and other promotions; track and share results for continuous improvement to targeting and segments.
  • Develop and manage media relationships, coordinate/manage press interviews, build meaningful relationships with key media partners.
  • Promote the organization through public relations initiatives. Coordinate and support communications projects, outreach, and products as needed.
  • Attend board meetings and study sessions as needed.
