Position Summary:

Second Wind Fund (SWF) is a 501(c)(3) Colorado-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to reduce the incidence of suicide in children and youth by removing the financial and social barriers to treatment. SWF services are provided across Colorado. Since 2002, SWF has provided life-saving services to over 8,000 Colorado youth.

SWF is seeking a full-time position – 40 hours per week. This position will be based in Denver or Grand Junction with the ability to work remotely. Join a small and growing organization with a life-saving mission!

The primary role of the Program Support Specialist (PSS) is to manage, implement and execute the referral process. The PSS will report to the Program Director.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Manage and implement all aspects of the referral process including refining, improving, and streamlining the process.
  • Process incoming referrals accurately and in accordance with SWF policies and procedures.
  • Guide referral sources (parents, guardians, youth serving professionals, etc.) through referral processes.
  • Manage follow up and engagement with referral sources and youth/families who receive SWF referrals.
  • Build quality relationships with referral sources through clear communication and timely follow-up to ensure the program’s success.
  • Analyze and organize referral data for use by staff, board, and external audiences.
  • Attend and engage in monthly internal SWF committee meetings: Program and occasional board meetings.
  • Collaborate with Community Managers to recruit new referral sources and communicate provider needs as it relates to referrals.
  • Support Program Team with Provider Onboarding and Claims Processing.
  • Participate in community outreach including local community events, committee meetings, summits, conferences, etc. related to suicide prevention and youth mental health.
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Program Director and Executive Director.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related area. Related work experience may be substituted for education requirement on a year for year basis.
  • At least three years of experience with non-profits, mental health, human services, and/or related field.
  • Experience with Zoho, or other similar databases
  • Sensitivity to HIPAA-related issues
  • Knowledge and experience in the mental health field and suicide-related issues as well as resources related to mental health services. Position requires small and large presentations on suicide prevention and Second Wind Fund to both public and specialist audiences.
  • Ability to work remotely in a timely and professional manner.
  • Microsoft Office Suite software proficiency and knowledge of internet and database applications.
  • Able to legally work in the United States of America.
