Title: Radio Operations Director
Employer: Open Media Foundation (OMF)
Job Type: Full Time Salaried Position
Compensation: $45,000 to $55,000 plus benefits
The Open Media Foundation seeks to hire a Radio Operations Director to manage operations of our community-powered FM radio station, Denver Open Media (D.O.M.) and related programs aimed at expanding diversity of opportunities for under-represented communities in Radio and other Colorado Media & Journalism outlets. The primary responsibility of the Radio Operations Director is managing volunteers, interns, and on-air radio hosts for D.O.M. in addition to Americorps VISTA members, and partners working on our Open Media Career Engine, which helps expand engagement and employment opportunities for people of color and other underrepresented demographics in local media.
The Denver Open Media community media effort is far more than a radio station: it is a proof-of-concept for democratizing our media. D.O.M. does not operate like most radio stations, with community members providing 99% of the content and listeners voting to determine what they want to hear. D.O.M. is an experiment in letting the community run their own media. With two new signals and a new home in Denver’s newest Public Media Center, we have an opportunity to take this experiment to a whole new level and we’re seeking a passionate Radio Operations Director to help lead the way!
Set and execute SMART goals for all aspects of D.O.M. including marketing, fundraising, and operations.
Organize and Manage activities of D.O.M. volunteers interns and contractors, providing direction, coordination, and training for all volunteer functions.
