Senior Director – Head of Global Data and Analytics Architecture

This exciting opportunity requires a leader who understands and has built data centric technology architectures that provide governed, clean and accessible data services to a diverse community of business users, platforms, systems, and data scientists.  This role will focus on ensuring the data that powers our enterprise is accurate, curated and available with the appropriate controls. 

This highly visible position will be at the front and center as we work to continuously modernize our platforms and change the way we think about and apply data in solutions across our architecture. A successful candidate for this position must possess both a deep and wide background in data technologies spanning both solutions built on traditional (RDBMS) and non-traditional (NoSQL) platforms. This is a leader in the design of modern data who will enable our brands by providing innovative and creative solution design, testing new tools and ensuring governance and accuracy.  The head of GDA will ensure that all tools, technologies and solutions are effortless for our brand reporting teams, corporate analytics teams, data gurus and corporate leaders.

As a key member of the architecture team, the candidate should be comfortable with driving technical ideas and communicating clearly with technical as well as non-technical audiences.

Key Accountabilities: 

Drive the inception of new and innovative designs, components, processes, methods and concepts into production and be responsible for clearly articulated design, architects and technology deliverables
Manage a global, distributed team with highly matrixed resources to understand, drive and produce great results for our brands by building a robust, scalable set of data services and tools to enable their research and insights
Proactively research new technologies and tools and processes to drive the roadmap of delivery with planning and clear business value drops
Define, Communicate and coordinate all necessary project and program information that supports on time activation for all assigned projects.
Lead the proper solutioning and engineering to achieve business goals, facilitate the development of new insights and goals for our business partners
Take ownership for the entire development process for assigned product lines, with an emphasis on quality, agile development and timely completion of all tasks in accordance with the applicable operating calendar
Establish and maintain strong working relationships with Brand Business Units, Business Intelligence Teams, Demand Planning/Supply Reporting as well as our Analytics teams.
Must excel at organizational tasks and superb communication are a must, good collaborator with a real focus on delivery and experienced with complex transition management environments
Executive level design leader with demonstrable ability through experience to influence leadership in matrixed organizations using design principles, clear accountability in decisioning and outstanding documentation.
Knowledge, Capabilities, and Experience: 

Extensive experience with technology, solution architecture, and data practices, must have experience with modern cloud architectures for data as a service, integration, sourcing, and API delivery.
Deep Experience with solution specification and design as well as agile delivery at a large, global multinational corporation with distributed teams.
Expert level technology consulting and deep understanding of design and architecture of analytics and reporting systems
Exposure to the latest in tools, technologies, components, processes, and concepts in the data-driven insights world – CDP, Big Data technologies with exposure to the pragmatic use of AI/ML
Gaining an understanding of our Current State and then defining the Target State Architecture and Strategy.
Drive towards adoption of the target state architecture by executing on the strategy. Must possess the leadership qualities necessary to drive change and adoption of the strategy.
Develop Architectures for highly scalable and fault-tolerant applications using the right mix of technologies, platforms and tools.
Provide technical and architectural oversight for systems and projects that are required to be reliable, massively scalable, highly available (99.999% uptime), and maintainable.
Introduce best practices and principles to enable consistent delivery and enable alignment with long term direction.
Lead and mentor other team members.
Foster development best practices within the team and to both identify and drive process improvements across the data landscape with the support and help of engineering and product management.
Ability to frequently travel to brand locations and remote locations is required
This position will be based out of one of global locations, but travel is expected at least 30% of the time
Skills for Success

1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science with focus on data or data engineering

2. 8-10 years of data and integration platform building experience is required, preferable cloud-based and micro-services, DaaS, etc

3. 10+ years of database management  experience including direct data environment management experience for multiple teams and several release cycles

4. 12-15 full time years related work experience in the data intensive technology organizations within global, multinational corporation is required

5. Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering is preferred

6. Cloud, Analytics or Database certifications are desirable
