As our Senior Manager of EDI you will serve as a catalyst to support and leverage best practices and resources across OIT to promote the organization’s EDI goals. This role supervises an EDI Specialist and oversees multiple employee-led groups at OIT. It reports to the Chief People Officer and serves as the senior EDI advisor to leadership.

Some of the opportunities awaiting you include:

Implementing and updating  OIT’s EDI Plan in accordance with Executive Order and the State’s EDI Universal Policy.

Leading with an in-depth understanding of how EDI goals and concepts advance OIT’s strategic priorities and enhancing programs to further integrate EDI into the OIT culture, business strategies and operations.

Promoting a culture of inclusion where employees from all racial and ethnic identities, ages, nationalities, social and economic status, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, religious, political and ideological perspectives, and physical and mental abilities are able to feel connected, engaged and thrive. 

Providing vision and leadership to further integrate equity and inclusion into the work of OIT, working closely with leadership and groups such as OIT’s EDI Action Alliance and Employee Resources Groups (ERGs)

Creating and implementing metrics, monitoring and reporting systems to effectively benchmark OIT’s progress within each functional group in multiple locations.  

Providing consultative services and guidance with internal stakeholders to develop strategic and collaborative partnerships by serving as the subject matter expert. 

Serving as the senior equity, diversity and inclusion advisor to OIT leadership by providing recommendations, guidance and support to OIT’s Executive Team on EDI programming, processes, policies and procedures to address any inequities.

Actively engaging in improving leadership skills, attitudes, and knowledge, especially as related to equity, diversity and inclusion. Attending training, development and group training on topics of inclusive leadership.
 

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

A wide salary range is posted for this position and any job offer is based upon a salary analysis to comply with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The salary analysis considers relevant experience, education, certifications, and state seniority as compared to others doing substantially similar work. While most salary offers are made within the posted range, occasionally an offer is made below or above the posted range based upon this salary analysis.

This is a skills-based job announcement. The required minimum qualifications and/or education (if substituting for the proven experience, knowledge, and skills), are as follows: 

Minimum Qualifications:

A minimum of five (5) years of dedicated experience leading EDI work for a large organization. This leadership includes establishing and meeting EDI goals and objectives, coaching and consulting with leaders, and working with employees at all levels. 

A minimum of three (3) years of management experience which may include indirect leadership of teams within a matrixed organization.

Previous experience creating EDI strategic plans, dashboards, reporting metrics, and other leadership tools.

 
Substitutions:

Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis, but cannot completely substitute for these qualifications. There is no substitution for any required management experience. 
Training or Certification related to the work assigned to the position will be assigned credit towards substitution for experience and/or education, but cannot completely substitute for these qualifications. 
If the minimum qualifications include a degree requirement, additional appropriate paid or unpaid experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:
Expert understanding of the dynamics and history of historically marginalized and/or disenfranchised people and communities.

Inclusive consulting, collaboration and assessment skills for both individuals and organizations.

Successful negotiation and influencing skills for communicating and resolving conflict
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills that build consensus; ability to communicate with leadership and staff at all levels.

Strategic thinking that demonstrates expert understanding of applying equity, diversity, and inclusion best practices achieve key objectives.

Experience reviewing and making recommendations to increase the accessibility of technology solutions.

Data analysis and reporting skills.

Experience designing original training content. Expert group facilitator in delivering training content.
 
Experience creating and leading Employee Resource Groups/ Affinity Groups. 

Conditions of Employment:
OIT candidates and employees must comply with any screening procedures in place at state entity locations where they might be required to perform work.
A pre-employment background check will be conducted as part of the selection process. 
Positions supporting some agencies such as the Department of Corrections and the Department of Public Safety will also require a pre-employment drug test. 
This position may require travel within the specified geographic area, and to locations across the state as needed. 
This position may require on-call duties as needed by the position. 

Supplemental Information

If this posting indicates “remote from anywhere in CO” in the title, periodic reporting to the primary state work location designated for the position is required. All remote work must be performed in Colorado. 

While candidates from out of state will be considered for this role, the candidate selected for the position must relocate and reside in Colorado on the first day of their new position. There is no form of relocation assistance, financial or otherwise, available for any position.  A reasonable timeframe for relocation will be established on an individual basis, while considering business needs, and determining a start date.
