Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective policies aligned with county priorities.
  • Build strong partnerships with community stakeholders.
  • Conduct thorough policy analysis and evaluation.
  • Drive strategic planning and performance improvement.

Knowledge and Skills you’ll need to be successful:

  • Strong research, data analysis, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of policy development, analysis, and implementation, especially in areas like housing, climate, and economic development.
  • Effective written and verbal communication, including public speaking and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to build relationships, collaborate with diverse stakeholders, and represent the county effectively.
  • Strong time management, project management, and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software, spreadsheets, and Google Suite.
  • Understanding of political acumen, and experience with local government.
  • Possess a strong understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) principles and their application in policy development.

Qualifications needed:

Experience:

  • Five (5) years' progressively responsible administrative, advisory or staff capacity experience in analyzing and making recommendations for the solutions to problems of procedure, budget, legislation, government, personnel or similar complex problems, required.
  • Expertise in one or more of the current strategic priorities: workforce and affordable housing, climate, natural resources and water quality, economic development, early childhood care, wildfire mitigation, or transportation, required work experience and qualifications.
  • Experience working with elected officials at the local, state, and federal level and/or Colorado counties is preferred

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree. Ideal areas of study may include political science, public policy, public administration, law, environmental studies, public affairs, urban planning, or business administration, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which produces the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • A Master’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Public Policy, Political Science, or other closely related field is preferred
