Manager, Social Media – Smartwool  

The Smartwool Social & Community Marketing Manager is responsible for building community and amplifying Smartwool’s purpose and values through the day-to-day execution of our social media channels and community-driven marketing tactics. The Manager should have knowledge of and experience with all aspects of social media management, including strategy creation, content, publishing, one-on one consumer engagement, analytics, ambassadors and influencers, and reporting. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Manage day-to-day execution across all Smartwool organic social media channels in alignment with overarching consumer engagement and social media strategies. 

  • Develop and execute a monthly multi-channel content calendar for social platforms that supports campaigns and tells the brand story with consistent content and voice. 

  • Monitor and respond to all messages, comments, and tags in a timely fashion to nurture an inclusive community through continuous dialogue and engagement. 

  • Roll out robust community management strategy to engage with consumers, athletes, partners, events, and other VF brands to amplify and curate relevant content. 

  • Support athlete program and manage ambassador and influencer programs and activations to build brand awareness and word-of-mouth, while curating content to use on brand social channels. 

  • Oversee platform growth strategy including paid recommendations per channel to grow our consumer base.  

  • Identify key moments to activate the Smartwool brand across the global cultural community calendar through a mix of content, partnerships, and campaigns 

  • Oversee strategic community projects with various internal and external stakeholders to achieve campaign delivery excellence 

  • With manager oversight, implement a strategic content marketing and community engagement program, focused on creating and distributing valuable, relevant and consistent brand content to attract and retain a clearly defined audience. 

  • Lead organic social media strategy, driving the brand’s reach and roadmap forward with engaging content and creative new tactics.  

  • Analyze and report on performance to provide actionable insights to help inform immediate opportunities as well as longer term strategy. 

  • Use knowledge of best practices by channel and identify new trends and technologies to help evolve social media strategy and grow channels. 

  • Partner closely with the Sr. Manager of Integrated Marketing to ensure that organic and paid social efforts and creative are aligned. 

  • Identify & engage with Smartwool Insider advocates to amplify and curate stories and content. 

  • Be at the cutting edge of understanding internet, social, and meme culture and how to sensitively work within it while maintaining brand goals and values. 

  • Seek out & elevate strategic partnership opportunities with key social platforms to deliver on brand & business goals. 

  • Execute all consumer promotions and giveaways. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • 3-5 years of experience in social media marketing, including day-to-day management of multiple channels.  

  • In-depth knowledge of social platforms, trends, and best practices. 

  • Experience analyzing and reporting on social media KPIs. 

  • Superior writing skills within brand voice and style. 

  • Knowledge of legal protocol around social contests, influencers, content usage rights, etc. 

  • Proficiency in digital photography, video editing, content management, and Photoshop and Adobe CS. 

  • Experience with social media management and analytics tools. 

  • Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint. 

  • Incredibly organized and detail-oriented, with ability to take initiative and be proactive in fast-paced, continually changing environment. 

  • Passion for or prior experience in outdoor/action sports a plus.
