As the Vice President of Cybersecurity Operations at Western Union, you will develop and lead a comprehensive cybersecurity operations program designed to protect our organization's digital assets and infrastructure on a global scale. Will be responsible for leading a global and diverse team of cybersecurity professionals spread across multiple regions, including experts in Attack Surface Reduction, Red Team, Threat Intelligence, Incident Response, Insider Threat, Security Operations, Endpoint Security, Network Security, Cyber Analytics, Encryption, Cloud Security Engineering, and Product/Application Security. Your leadership will be instrumental in ensuring the security and resilience of our organization's systems against evolving cyber threats across different geographical locations. The Vice President of Cybersecurity Operations will play a pivotal role in ensuring effective cybersecurity operations, recognizing the substantial and material impact that security events can have on an organization's viability and overall success.

Role Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and execute a strategic vision for global cybersecurity operations aligned with the organization's overall goals and risk tolerance and taking into account regional nuances and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with C-suite executives to integrate cybersecurity best practices into core business processes and strategic decision making across diverse global regions.

Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and empower a global, multidisciplinary team of cybersecurity professionals and leaders around the world, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide strategic guidance and direction to cybersecurity teams worldwide ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and regional cybersecurity needs.

Cyber Defense Operations:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the global Cyber Defense division, ensuring consistent implementation of cybersecurity measures and protocols across all regions. 
  • Coordinate proactive strategies to identify, mitigate, and respond to cyber threats and vulnerabilities globally, leveraging regional expertise and organizational technology infrastructure.

Incident Response and Management:

  • Develop and maintain robust incident response plans and procedures, ensuring rapid and effective responses to cybersecurity incidents and breaches.
  • Lead incident response efforts, coordinating with regional teams, internal stakeholders, external partners, and government agencies as necessary.

Product and Application security:

  • Manage a team of application security professionals, ensuring security practices are integrated into software development processes.
  • Collaborate with product development teams to embed security best practices into the design, development, and deployment phases.
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight in identifying and mitigating security vulnerabilities and threats throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Work closely with software architects and engineers to implement secure coding standards, conduct code reviews, and integrate automated security testing into development workflows.
  • Partner with product management teams to prioritize security requirements and features, ensuring alignment with product roadmaps and release schedules.
  • Stay informed about emerging threats and vulnerabilities in product and application security, and advocate for proactive security measures and technologies.
  • Serve as a key liaison between technical teams and executive leadership, communicating the significance of product and application security and influencing for appropriate resource allocation to address security challenges effectively.

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years in global cybersecurity operations, with a proven track record of leadership and achievement.
  • Strong technical expertise across multiple cybersecurity domains, including but not limited to incident response, threat intelligence, endpoint security, network security, and cloud security.
  • Experience managing large, diverse global teams in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to inspire and motivate team members to achieve excellence.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, or similar are highly desirable.

Salary

The base salary range is $250,000 – 300,000 USD per year, total on target compensation includes a base salary and short-term, and long-term, incentives that align with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary based on candidates’ qualifications, skills, and competencies.
