Volunteer & Event Coordinator

The Volunteer and Events Coordinator is a mid-level professional whose primary responsibility is to ensure that Amp the Cause events are run efficiently, volunteers are prepared, and events strategies are effectively implemented.

The Volunteer Coordinator will recruit, direct, and manage job descriptions of volunteers for all major Amp the Cause events including but not limited to     Community Day, Denver Day of Rock, and Holidays for Kids. This position is additionally responsible for managing other aspects of events including general administrative work with a focus on internal and external communications. This position works closely with the entire team to sustain the events and their high level of quality and impact.

Overview of Responsibilities:

  • Create information and recruitment material for volunteers
  • Maintain company and sponsor contacts in regard to volunteers
  • Send out electronic correspondence to recruit volunteers
  • Organize and manage volunteer assignments and coverage at events
  • Maintain all volunteer opportunity listings across various websites and community boards
  • Work directly with corporate partners and sponsors to meet their volunteer needs and find meaningful activities for their associates
  • Collect and report volunteer data as requested by sponsors
  • Track volunteer numbers and hours worked for reporting
  • Schedule and attend volunteer recruitment events and volunteer fairs
  • Solicitation of in-kind donations
  • General administrative office tasks
  • Assist team with various aspects of event coordination and management
  • Implementing and managing event timelines and schedules
  • Follow-up with beneficiaries, committee members, volunteers, vendors, etc. as needed
  • Conduct project site visits throughout Metro Denver – involves driving to/from site locations
  • Occasional lifting and moving materials as it relates to event prep

Skills and Qualifications:

  • At least three years of nonprofit work experience
  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn the non-profit landscape in Colorado – especially as it relates to the specific needs and goals of Amp the Cause beneficiaries
  • Ability to think ahead, strategize and anticipate volunteer needs for an event
  • Flexibility with creating and delegating volunteer opportunities
  • Demonstrated leadership and/or management experience
  • Extremely high attention to detail with a keen ability to track and manage volunteer database both efficiently and effectively
