Crazy Horse Memorial Foundation
The Crazy Horse Memorial Foundation (CHMF) is seeking a Vice President (VP) of Philanthropy. This position’s responsibilities will center on the CHMF’s strategic planning and strengthening the organization’s capacity to fulfill its mission: To protect and preserve the culture, tradition, and living heritage of North American Indians.
The CHMF demonstrates its commitment to this endeavor by supporting these key initiatives:
· Continuing progress on carving Crazy Horse Memorial®.
· Operating Crazy Horse Memorial University®.
· Operating The Indian Museum of North America® and The Native American Educational and Cultural Center.
Reporting to the CEO, the VP of Philanthropy sets a strategic vision to ensure CHMF exceeds its revenue goals and is financially sustainable. Leading multiple direct reports, the VP will cultivate, solicit, and steward individuals, corporations, and foundations, securing private gifts and grants (annual, major, legacy, and corporate) through direct solicitation and philanthropic events.
This individual will be a leader in the truest sense: visionary, innovative, and focused on results to enhance and optimize CHMF operations.
Required Education/Experience/Competencies
· A bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field
· Three (3) to Six (6) years experience in non-profit fundraising or a similar relationship driven industry
o Cultivating/securing key relationships that have proven to drive growth/revenue.
o Planning and implementing events
· Ability to train and build trusting relations with direct reports and colleagues
Preferred Education/Experience/Competencies
· Seven (7) to Ten (10) years experience in non-profit fundraising, specifically managing donor relations in a mission-driven organization, including:
o Cultivating/securing six figure gifts.
o Securing major grants.
· Ability to train staff in fundraising best practices.
· Experience with fundraising and donor management software. (specifically with Raiser’s Edge is desired but not a must)
· CFRE Certification.
