Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) serves as the management leader of LEAF. The ED is responsible for: executing the strategic plan and strategic direction of the organization; ensuring fiscal management; overseeing administration of all programs and services, fundraising, staff, volunteers, and operations. Hours: Approximately 30 hours per week, flexible schedule
Salary Range: $80,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year
Supervises: 4 Part-Time Staff
Work Location: In person with hybrid option

Position Overview
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) serves as the management leader of LEAF. The ED is responsible for: executing the strategic plan and strategic direction of the organization; ensuring fiscal management; overseeing administration of all programs and services, fundraising, staff, volunteers, and operations. This role requires a passionate and visionary leader who can collaborate effectively with staff, volunteers, stakeholders, and the Board to ensure the success and sustainability of the organization’s mission, programs, and services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Strategy

    • Implement the mission, vision, and strategic plan in collaboration with the Board

    • Serve as the primary spokesperson and advocate for the organization

    • Manage a mission-aligned best practice organization

  • Board Relations & Governance

    • Support effective governance by delivering transparent communication, timely updates, and strategic insights to the Board

    • Facilitate regular Board meetings and ensure compliance with bylaws, policies, and governance best practices

    • Engage Board members as ambassadors, fundraisers, and thought partners

  •  Staff Supervision & Development

    • Hire, supervise, direct, and mentor staff/volunteers across programmatic and operational roles

    • Provide clear goals, feedback, and professional development opportunities

    • Foster a healthy, collaborative, and inclusive work environment

    • Ensure employment compliance of best practices, policies, and legal requirements

  • Financial & Operational Management

    • Manage the organizational budget and oversee financial reporting in collaboration with the Board Treasurer, Finance Committee, and bookkeeper

    • Oversee financial policies, reporting, and compliance

    • Manage facilities, contracts, vendors, and technology systems

  • Fundraising & Development

    • Lead fundraising efforts including individual giving, grants, appeals, sponsorships, and events

    • Build and maintain relationships with donors, foundations, and partners

    • Oversee donor recognition, grant reporting, and donor communications

  • Program Oversight

    • Ensure effective delivery, measurement, evaluation, and reporting of programs

    • Align programs with strategic goals, community needs, and funding priorities

    • Support staff and volunteers in delivering high-quality, high-impact client-centered services

  • Community Engagement

    • Cultivate collaborative relationships with volunteers, funders, and external stakeholders

    • Represent the organization in the community and with external stakeholders

    • Elevate the visibility and credibility of the organization locally and beyond

    • Deliver engaged organizational messaging through public speaking, media, and digital outreach

       

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Progressive leadership experience in a nonprofit organization, with a strong emphasis on fundraising, financial management, and organizational leadership

  • Appreciation and understanding of mountain community cultures in the equitable delivery of human  services including wellness, mental health & addiction recovery, food security, and basic needs assistance 

  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, organizational development, and project management

  • Strong financial acumen, including budget development, fiscal oversight, and financial reporting

  • Experienced in managing staff and volunteers to cultivate a collaborative and high-performing culture

  • Experience with successful fundraising, grant writing, and donor cultivation

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including public speaking, donor communication, and digital content creation

  • Skilled in building and sustaining positive and productive stakeholder relationships

  • Familiarity with workplace tools, including donor management, social media, website, and relevant technology platforms such as: Google Suite, QuickBooks, and Bloomerang

  • Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to perform duties in a typical office environment

    • Occasional lifting of up to 25-30 pounds may be required

    • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods

    • Occasional evenings or weekends required

  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications

    • Must be authorized to work in the United States

    • Must possess a valid driver’s license

  • Salary Range: $80-95,000/yr
    This compensation range represents LEAF’s good faith estimate of what LEAF may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
