This new, full-time role leads the selection, sub-award, and technical support of four of Feeding Colorado's five member food banks serving rural and frontier counties, and coordinates the relationships between those food banks, Regional Accountable Entities, local healthcare systems, and Colorado agricultural producers that make the program work – directly advancing Feeding Colorado's mission to reduce food insecurity, improve rural health outcomes, and strengthen local agriculture. The role is central to Feeding Colorado's statewide Food is Medicine implementation strategy and reports directly to the Executive Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a master list of all equipment purchases and hired personnel for each food bank connected to the award, and report this to CDPHE.

Program Design

  • Develop shared values to guide project decisions and processes
  • In partnership with Subject Matter Experts and the Food Banks, develop frameworks for produce prescription interventions and an evaluation framework
  • Oversee Food Bank development of SOPs for each intervention model and facilitate processes to solicit RAE and clinic feedback on workflows and SOPs

  • Develop a communication plan for produce prescription rollout

  • Verify that each food bank has functioning systems for healthcare referral acceptance and tracking patient outreach.
  • Verify that each food bank delivers nutrition education to participants on safe food handling and storage, preparation, and simple recipes.

Local Agriculture Integration

  • Support participating food banks in deepening relationships with Colorado growers and producers to integrate Colorado-grown produce into program deliveries.
  • Assess local retailers and small grocers as an additional produce sourcing and distribution option for produce prescription implementation.
  • Identify and document examples of successful local agriculture partnerships that can be replicated across sites.

Reporting and Compliance
