Position Summary
The Program Manager is responsible for managing and implementing a portfolio of programs that expand food access to residents in Southwest Denver, primarily through the Healthy Food for Denver’s Kids (HFDK) initiative. This includes overseeing contractors, managing grants and budgets, coordinating food distribution efforts, and cultivating collaborative community partnerships.
In addition to leading HFDK-funded work, the Program Manager will also take on the coordination and management of additional projects identified and prioritized by the Southwest Food Coalition. These projects aim to improve food systems, access, and equity in response to community-identified needs.
This role requires strong organizational skills, cultural responsiveness, and a commitment to working in partnership with diverse community members and organizations.

Essential Job Functions

Program Implementation
•Oversee the work of SNAP enrollment and nutrition education.
•Coordinate weekly food distributions for partner sites, including running warehouse packing projects, managing volunteers, and helping with food delivery as needed.
•Develop and implement best practices training for school sites.
•Implement culturally relevant outreach strategies to increase food access and gather feedback to inform program improvements.

Grant Management
•Write and format reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
•Collaborate with the Executive Director to manage the grant budget and develop a spending strategy.
•Prepare monthly invoices and track all program-related expenses and supporting documentation.
•Maintain timely and accurate data tracking for grant deliverables and program evaluation.
Partnership Management
•Build and maintain relationships with schools, childcare sites, Family, Friend, and Neighbor (FFN) networks, and Early Childhood Education (ECE) providers.
•Collaborate with existing and new partner agencies and residents to identify and respond to food access needs.

Coalition-Identified Project Management
•Lead the implementation of additional projects prioritized by the Southwest Food Coalition to advance food access, equity, and systems change.
•Develop work plans, timelines, and deliverables for each project in collaboration with partners and coalition leadership.
•Provide coordination, partner engagement, and evaluation support to ensure the success of emerging community-driven initiatives.

Organizational Leadership
•Participate in agency-wide decision-making and planning processes.
•Provide thought partnership to the leadership team on strategic initiatives, staffing, and systems development.

Qualifications
•3+ years of experience in nonprofit operations, logistics, or administration.
•Demonstrated success in managing complex projects or systems.
•Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
•Proficiency with software such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and logistics or inventory tools.
•Experience managing relationships with vendors, partners, or government agencies.
•Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks across multiple workstreams.
•Commitment to equity, food justice, and mission-driven work.
•Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred but not required.

Typical Physical Demands
Lifting up to 70 pounds. Operating pallet jacks, pushing and pulling over 1,000 pounds. Required sitting, standing, bending and reaching. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, the telephone and other office and/or clinical equipment. May require use of pallet jack to distribute food.

Salary: $64,000-68,000 depending on experience.
Benefits: 3 weeks of paid time off, 64 hours of health leave, 10 holidays and two floating holidays. One-week closure in winter. Matching employer 401(k) plan. Employer paid 80% of medical, dental and vision plans for employee and dependents. Voluntary supplemental Short-Term Disability and other similar benefits.
