The Adams County Parks, Open Space & Cultural Arts Department (POSCA) brings fun events, the arts, and the outdoors to life for our communities. Our vision is to significantly enhance quality of life, enrich communities, and INSPIRE. We are looking for a Marketing & Outreach Specialist to join our team to help tell the stories of the great work we do and all we have to offer.

Working with the county’s Communications Department, this position will focus specifically on the work of the Department including Special Events, Cultural Arts, Park Operations, Park Rangers, CSU Extension, and 4-H.

 

Examples of Duties for Success

 

  • Develop and implement marketing strategy to unify the brand of the Parks, Open Space & Cultural Arts Department
  • Support POSCA department divisions with marketing, communications, design, and public relations needs
  • Create individual marketing plans to support events, programs, and projects throughout the year
  • Keep Adams County communities informed of all POSCA-related information, including park updates and maintenance, capital project updates, events, programs, and other important information through existing and new communications channels
  • Coordinate with POSCA divisions to update website, online communications, e-newsletters, and other communications to ensure accuracy, clarity, and interest
  • Develop and implement strategies to grow the audience for existing communications channels  
  • Analyze current communications channels to inform future efforts and development for new channels
  • Organize media buys for large county events, including Adams County Fair, Pride, Festival Latino, and Stars & Stripes
  • Act as liaison for all media outlets during large county events
  • Provide creative direction on graphic design for event, program, and project promotions
  • Coordinate and help create signage packages for county events
  • Develop and implement a marketing plan for facility rentals at Riverdale Regional Park, with a focus on community and cultural events
  • Support outreach efforts to gather community input for POSCA capital projects and initiatives
  • Develop effective new channels for internal and external communications efforts
  • Lead content creation for social media platforms, specific to CSU Extension and 4H
  • Perform ongoing website updates, specific to CSU Extension and 4-H
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and program events as requested.
  • Work directly with Communications Department staff to support their initiatives as they relate to POSCA and communicate POSCA messaging through their media outlets and resources
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.

 

Qualifications for Success

 

  • Experience in advertising, marketing technology and public outreach.
  • Ability to think strategically across short-, medium- and long-term marketing goals.
  • Thoughtful, collaborative work ethic with strong communication skills and the ability to influence others.
  • Experience in working with social media platforms, data collection software.
  • Understand advertising and marketing tools, technology, digital platforms, and offline/online marketing trends.
  • Experience in working with a diverse set of community members, stakeholders, and employees.

 

 

More Qualifications for Success

 

Experience: 3-5 years’ experience in marketing, communications, public relations for events, government, environmental, or arts-related organizations

Education: Equivalent combination of education and experience with demonstrated knowledge and skills may be considered

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or related field required.

License or Certificate: Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license.

Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check.
