Summary

The Government Affairs Manager will assist and collaborate with the President & CEO with business-related political issues to help keep members informed of key issues and to assist in influencing legislation at the state and local level.

Job Title: Government Affairs Manager
Reports to: President & CEO
Job Type: Full-time, salary plus full benefits

 

Primary Duties

  • Research of proposed or existing regulations or laws at the federal, state, and local levels.
  • Track and monitor status of bills of interest to CRA.
  • Conduct research around and recommend positions on issues affecting CRA.
  • Assist the development of strategy to influence state and local lawmakers and regulators.
  • Work with CRA government affairs team to advocate for the interests of CRA members.
  • Organize meetings and/or testimony of members when directed.
  • Represent CRA at meetings around the state as directed by President & CEO.
  • Act as Chapter Liaison to the CRA Chapters around the state, which includes being their primary contact and assisting with coordination of meetings.
  • Provide government affairs updates for CRA communications.
  • Provide written and/or in person testimony before the Colorado Legislature, Local Governments, and rule-making bodies when directed.
  • Answer member inquiries from “Info @” and “Firstcall” and assist members in navigating government agencies.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Political Science, Public Administration, or related degree.
  • Thorough understanding of the food and beverage business.
  • Understanding of legislative process at state, county, and local levels.
  • Minimum 4 years work experience in state or local government or government affairs
  • Effective listening, writing, and telephone skills.
  • Ability to speak to large groups and testify at hearings.
  • Ability to work unconventional hours as needed.
  • Ability to travel around the state and occasionally out of state.
