Beaver Creek Metropolitan District and Surrounding Area
The Beaver Creek Metropolitan District (BCMD) is a special district located in the heart of the Eagle River Valley in Eagle County Colorado. The District is responsible for the funding and oversight of streets, water systems, fire service, public safety and transportation for Beaver Creek. The BCMD is governed by an elected five-member Board of Directors. A full-time General Manager is appointed by the Board and is responsible for the oversight, management and performance of these services and contracts. The BCMD offices are located in Eagle-Vail, CO.
The community of Beaver Creek is a mountain village, and home to world-class hotels, private residences, restaurants, and shops. The Beaver Creek Resort offers first-rate ski runs, hiking paths, terrain parks, a Robert Trent Jones, Jr. designed golf course and cross-country routes. Beaver Creek offers many services and amenities for the locals, and is a year-round tourist destination.
The area is known for its many outdoor activities such as skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking, golfing, tennis, fishing, festivals and events. While residents and visitors enjoy the outdoor mountain lifestyle, there are many reasons Beaver Creek is known as a first-class vibrant resort community. It is host to several annual events which include the Stifel Birds of Prey FIS Ski World Cup races, the Blues/Brews & BBQ festival, an Independence Day BBQ, the Vail Beaver Creek Restaurant Week, the Beaver Creek Talons Challenge, art festivals, an Oktoberfest, and a Winter Culinary Weekend. In the summertime, the flower-dotted Beaver Creek Mountain has a hiking and tennis center. Theater productions, concerts and comedy shows are presented by the Vilar Performing Arts Center Beaver Creek and the Children's Museum offers play-based exhibits. Local transportation to the village is provided by a free bus system serving Eagle County with rides to the base mountain parking lots.
The Eagle County School District RE-50J encompasses 10 elementary schools, seven middle schools, and five high schools. The Colorado Mountain College operates its Vail Valley campus nearby in Edwards. Beaver Creek and the surrounding area have so much to offer! It’s truly a great place to call home.
The Position
The Beaver Creek Metropolitan District (BCMD) is seeking a skilled and seasoned leader for the position of General Manager. The General Manager reports to and works closely with the BCMD’s elected board of directors to oversee District affairs, including: governance and administration; public transportation and services; and operation and maintenance of public roadways, common areas and infrastructure. This position is generally 80% administrative and 20% operational. The General Manager is the only employee of the District. Virtually all BCMD services are performed through contracted service providers. There are new and ongoing contracts that must be reviewed, considered and/or renewed annually. The General Manager will be responsible for successfully managing professional relationships, contracts and agreements with other public and private entities, community members and other key stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Five (5) years of relevant managerial experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree is preferred. A Master’s degree in public administration, business administration or closely related field is a plus. Any combined equivalent of education and experience which provides the applicant the knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the job will be considered.
- This position is “in-person”, the successful candidate must be willing to work on-site.
- Must possess or obtain a valid Colorado driver’s license.
- While there is no residency requirement, ideally the GM will reside in/relocate to the Eagle River Valley (which includes the communities of Avon, Edwards, Eagle, Vail and Gypsum and the surrounding area).

This position is open following the retirement of a successful and well-respected General Manager. Specific opportunities include:
- Developing a five-year strategic plan in conjunction with the Board of Directors.
- Manage projects/initiatives following the engineering study addressing road/skier drop-off improvements.
- Negotiating and managing Metro contracts and governmental agreements.
- Developing improved on-site documentation of the Metro’s easement agreements, annual maintenance of vehicles, facilities, etc.
- Interfacing with the Beaver Creek Property Owners Association, Vail Resorts and Beaver Creek Resort Company.
- Coordinating the contracted Vail Resorts workforce for snowplowing and removal, roadway striping, and overall maintenance and upkeep of all Metro roadways.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $140,000 – $190,000 (Depending on Qualifications)
The General Manager is eligible for a discretionary board-approved annual bonus.
