About FPPA
The Fire and Police Pension Association was created by legislative mandate in the 1980’s. Our leadership team guides us in fulfilling our mission, vision and values while achieving our strategic objectives. We administer a statewide multiple employer public employee retirement system providing defined benefit plan coverage as well as death and disability coverage for police officers and firefighters throughout the State of Colorado.
We are a small association of only 70 staff located in Denver, CO. We work hard and have a culture that supports staff to establish a well‐balanced relationship between their personal needs and work commitments.
Position Summary
The Content Specialist’s primary role is to create and execute outreach campaigns to FPPA’s active and retired Members, as well as other stakeholders. This role drives audience engagement using their exceptional writing skills and knack for simplifying complex subjects for a non-technical audience. Finally, this role seamlessly collaborates across teams to deliver effective, impactful content for use across all mediums, including email, social media, video, and print.
- Content Creation: Writes social posts, emails, blogs, scripts, newsletter articles and other content utilizing engagement and SEO best practices
- Social Media Coordination: Contributes to the creation and scheduling of social media content across various platforms
- Campaign Execution: Assists in the design and deployment of email and other outreach campaigns
- Editing: Works with team members and other staff to create the best possible version of each project
- Testing and Analysis: Collects campaign analytics and complete A/B testing to refine best practices
- Website Maintenance: Completes updates to our website using existing Content Management System
- Branding: Helps develop and maintain FPPA’s voice, tone, and visual standards
- Tell the FPPA story: Engages with Members, Employers, and the public to understand our services and share our Members’ stories
- Work autonomously: Can work effectively in both remote and office environments
- Work collaboratively: Works well within a cross-functional team environment
Any other duties as needed to drive to the vision and fulfill the mission and abide by the values of the organization.
Qualifications Summary
To be successful in this role you will need a minimum of 3 years of experience in crafting effective, well-rounded content across multiple mediums. The minimum of a bachelor’s degree in communication, marketing, writing, business, new media, public relations, or comparative professional experience. The ability to craft various content pieces, from topical to technical, to engage Members in a variety of ages and career/life stages. Superior ability to communicate complicated financial concepts in clear, concise ways to a non-technical audience. Knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA accessibility principles for web, video, and document design. Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.), Microsoft 365, and familiarity with the latest content trends and digital marketing platforms. Experience taking feedback and quickly iterating. Ability to work cross-functionally, balancing the needs of stakeholders. Ability to proactively track multiple tasks, schedule recurring deliverables, meet deadlines. Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug test.
Salary and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $55K ‐ $75K depending upon experience. Includes group medical, dental, vision, 401K, 457, defined benefit though Colorado PERA, life insurance and long‐term disability.
