Position Overview

EcoEnclose is seeking a Director of Product to ensure that we always have the most competitive product offerings on the market. The Director of Product ensures they are industry-leading from a sustainability perspective while meeting the needs of our customers. We define “sustainable” based on our framework, prioritizing maximum recycled content (especially PCR), reuse when relevant, and recyclability. 

 

You will have the opportunity to shape the overall Product Management organization, determine priorities, how to deploy your time and your team’s effort, and how to turn ambitious goals into reliable, real-world results.

 

Success in this role requires proactive project management, exceptional organization, focused execution, a sense of urgency, and relationship-building expertise.  You’ll directly manage our Lead Product Manager and Product Systems Manager. Our Product Team prides itself on being resourceful problem-solvers committed to efficiency and sustainability. 

 

Details: 

  • $120K – $140K plus bonus

  • Full Benefits, 401K match,  14 days Vacation + 12/25-1/1 Holiday

  • Hybrid: 3 Days/Wk in Office, Located in Louisville, CO (between Boulder & Denver)

  • Privately-owned Business in Mid-Growth Stage; Reports to President.

 

Key Responsibilities

Broken out by estimated percentage of time

  • (10%) Product Team Management 

    • Lead, mentor and develop a team of Product Managers to hit product goals.

    • Conduct regular 1:1s and performance coaching.

  • (20%) Product Strategy & Research

    • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success of product goals and product launches. 

    • Develop a strategy and roadmap to maintain competitiveness within core product categories and drive execution.

    • Partner across Sales, Customer Success, Sustainability, and Delivery to ensure our Product Roadmap is prioritized to meet the needs of our customers and fill key gaps in our product offering.

    • Identify, prioritize, and drive development benchmarks (breaking long term goals into smaller concrete projects).

    • Stay informed about market trends and competitor packaging practices to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation. 

  • (70%) Product Development / Execution:

    • Drive new product development and improvement efforts forward with our manufacturing partners – overseeing prototyping, testing, and validation in line with regulatory, sustainability, and customer requirements.

    • Identify, vet, and select high-value strategic manufacturing partners that help us to build manufacturing redundancy or fill gaps within our product offering. This includes doing comparative analysis across the partner capabilities, service, costs, and sustainability. 

    • Liaise with packaging manufacturers to source materials, evaluate capabilities, and ensure compliance with technical specifications and sustainability goals.

    • Anticipate and mitigate risks throughout the development lifecycle to avoid delays or cost overruns. This includes setting manufacturing expectations (such as tolerances and quality specs). 

  • Onsite Investigation / Trials – May be required to travel to manufacturing partner facilities for press checks and product development trials. New manufacturing partners may require a business and/or technical onsite review. 

 

 

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of demonstrated success in Product Development.  Prior role within packaging development is a plus.

  • 2+ years of people management experience.

  • Results-Oriented: A proven track record and consistency in achieving and exceeding ambitious project goals.

  • Strong Project Management Skills: Ability to manage multiple packaging projects simultaneously, track progress, and meet deadlines. 

  • Communication and Collaboration Skills: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.

  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze data, identify problems, and develop solutions. 

  • Attention to Detail: Rigorous attention to detail to ensure packaging accuracy and quality. 

  • Self-motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Passionate about sustainability, the environment, and making a positive change. 

  • (Nice to Have) Understanding of Packaging Materials and Processes: Knowledge of different packaging materials (e.g., cardboard, plastic, paper), printing techniques, and assembly processes. 

  • (Nice to Have) Knowledge of Regulatory Requirements: Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards for packaging.

Compensation

  • $120K – $140K plus bonus. Salary commensurate with experience and demonstrated previous success.
