The Colorado Association of School Executives (CASE) is looking for a visionary and highly organized Director of Professional Learning to join our leadership team. As the Director of Professional Learning, you will lead the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of all professional learning experiences under CASE’s Center for Excellence in Educational Leadership. From developing signature conferences to managing mentorship programs, your work will shape the growth and leadership of over 3,600 school and district leaders across Colorado.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Director of Professional Learning is responsible for all aspects of the professional learning programs, services, and events provided under The Center for Excellence in Educational Leadership (the Center), the nonprofit 501c(3) corporation affiliated with the Colorado Association of School Executives (CASE). The position is a part of the CASE Leadership Team. The Director of Professional Learning must maintain a systemic concern for the association and provide input and direction as appropriate in strategic planning, accounting, membership, marketing, communications, and advocacy, especially as these areas integrate with the professional learning pillar of the association.

🔍 Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities:
In collaboration with the Executive Director, set CASE professional learning priorities, and design and direct professional development opportunities for all CASE members.

  • Provide leadership, coordination, and development of all CASE professional learning events and programs and assess their efficacy continuously;

  • Consult with CASE members to identify professional learning needs, and ensure that content and/or programming is offered to meet those needs;

  • Modify and continuously improve professional learning offerings in response to CASE member feedback, assessment, and strategic planning conversations; 

  • Lead the planning and design of the four major annual CASE events: Winter Leadership Conference, CASE Convention, CASE Superintendents Conference, and the CASE Principal Conference;

  • Design content and secure presenters and materials for all CASE workshops; 

  • Secure speakers and presenters, including speaker contracts, and serve as the main point of contact to coordinate conference logistics and details. Additionally, secure all speaker assets, including speaker biography, presentation description, and other relevant materials;

  • Initiate and manage the process to solicit breakout session proposals, lead review, and scoring process with CASE members and CASE Leadership Team and ensure the selection of breakout sessions that are balanced in topic and meet the learning needs of members across all seven CASE departments;

  • Regularly review event registration rates, in collaboration with the CASE Leadership Team, and make recommendations about changes; 

  • Manage and implement the CASE mentorship program, including setting program goals, creating content, recruiting participants, and evaluating outcomes to determine; 

  • In collaboration with the Director of Events, develop an annual calendar of CASE events and create and manage CASE event budgets; 

  • In collaboration with the Director of Events, make recommendations about future locations for CASE events;

  • Conduct, manage, and analyze post-event member survey data as well as registration trends. Utilizing survey feedback, registration data, and input from CASE staff, the Professional Advisory Committee, and the Coordinating Council, develop a plan to incorporate and address these elements at future CASE events.  

MANAGEMENT

  • As a member of the CASE Leadership Team, assists with strategic planning and coordination of CASE operations; with monitoring and administration of the organization budget; and with developing, establishing, and maintaining policies, procedures, and performance standards;

  • Manage Senior Manager of Strategic Partners and ensure strong alignment of CASE vendor agreements with goals and content of CASE professional learning activities;

  • Directly supervise and evaluate the Event Registration Manager;

  • Serve as liaison for CASE school principal departments, including working with board members on department goals and activities, and providing support at all principal department board meetings;

  • As a member of the CASE Leadership Team, meet with regional groups of school and district leaders and attend their professional learning events; 

  • Maintain awareness of Colorado legislative and State Board of Education activity as it stands to impact the professional learning needs of CASE members. Maintain positive working relationships with the Colorado Department of Education, the Colorado Association of School Boards, the Colorado Education Association, the Colorado Rural Alliance, and other statewide education organizations and non-profit associations;

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the CASE Executive Director.

TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated experience and success in planning and executing professional learning programs for public school and district administrators; 

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with people and build relationships;

  • Able to prioritize and multitask;

  • Strong attention to detail and precision in work;

  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills;

  • Demonstrated ability in oral and written communication skills;

  • Background experience and familiarity with CASE;

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Google Suite.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:  

  • Must possess a Bachelor of Arts degree in Educational Leadership, Professional Development, Adult Learning & Development, Curriculum & Instruction, or other related field;

  • Minimum 3 years experience in the management of professional learning activities and programs for public schools and district leaders;

  • Valid Colorado driver’s license;

  • Ability to travel to CASE events, including multi-day events.

  • Must possess a minimum of 3 years experience designing and managing professional learning for K–12 building and district leaders;
  • Strong leadership, communication, and event coordination skills;
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of adult learning;
  • A deep understanding of Colorado's public education landscape is a plus;
  • Ability to travel to multi-day events across the state. Must attend in-person meetings and events as required.
