About the Role
The Collaborative is looking for a Membership Manager who thrives on building relationships, facilitating conversations, and creating experiences that help our members grow and succeed together.
You’ll be the heartbeat of our membership—welcoming new organizations, keeping members connected, coordinating events, and helping shape programs that make a real difference. From crafting meeting invitations and booking venues to leading discussions and managing our member portal, this role combines logistics, communication, and creativity in equal measure.
You’ll work closely with the Executive Director to design and deliver programming that supports collaboration across arts, culture, and science organizations. The ideal candidate loves technology, enjoys bringing people together, and finds joy in making things run smoothly behind the scenes.
Position Summary:
The Membership Manager is responsible for managing the full life cycle of membership engagement—from enrollment and onboarding to programming, events, and ongoing communication. This position ensures that members are informed, connected, and engaged through thoughtful facilitation, clear communication, and exceptional service.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Membership Manager plays a central role in member relationship management, meeting facilitation, and event coordination. The position supports programming development, assists in identifying relevant speakers and topics, and manages all event logistics including invitations, RSVPs, venues, and catering.
This position requires strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, comfort with technology, and the ability to lead engaging discussions both virtually and in person.
Please note that this position is with The Collaborative of the SCFD. While we work closely and champion the SCFD, The Collaborative is a separate entity. SCFD-funded organizations can choose to opt-into membership. With more than 90 members—and growing—we’re a small but mighty team that believes in the power of collaboration.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage annual membership enrollment, renewals, and onboarding for all member organizations.
Maintain accurate member contact records and track staff transitions at member organizations.
Develop and manage internal communication plans, including email updates, website content, and member portal information.
Coordinate all aspects of member events and meetings, including scheduling, invitations, RSVPs, venues, catering, and speaker logistics.

Collaborate with the Executive Director to develop programming content and identify potential speakers and facilitators.
Draft clear, timely, and engaging written communications for members.
Create surveys, evaluations, and reports to measure engagement and inform future programming.
Maintain and update the Collaborative’s website and private membership site.
Use online platforms including Constant Contact, WordPress, Zoom, SurveyMonkey, and CRM databases to manage communications and reporting.
Support broader capacity-building and collaborative programming initiatives.
Assist the Executive Director in preparing materials and communications for the Board of Directors and committees.
Work Schedule
The Membership Manager works primarily onsite at the Collaborative’s Lakewood-Belmar office, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening or weekend events.
