Bright by Text is a national nonprofit committed to uplifting families and providing all children the potential to thrive. We focus on early childhood development resources for parents delivered by a robust text messaging platform. Our service delivers actionable information from trusted early childhood experts to parents and caregivers of young children — from prenatal through age eleven — to support healthy child development and build strong, resilient families.

Summary of Position:  As the principal fundraising officer and grants manager, the Director of Philanthropy is tasked with the planning and implementation of a comprehensive plan that secures significant financial resources to meet Bright by Text’s philanthropic goals. Responsibilities include researching and finding new grant opportunities; researching and writing grant proposals; guiding grant implementation and evaluation; prospecting, acquiring, and managing donor relationships; planning and implementing corporate and individual giving campaigns and special events; and reporting to senior leadership on progress toward goal achievement. 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred

  • Minimum of five years of direct experience and knowledge of the full spectrum of fundraising.

  • Demonstrated success in networking to build business relationships within the corporate, public and nonprofit sectors.

  • Experience working with Senior Level executives in non-profit and corporate environments (C-level/VP/Board of Directors) including working with the executive director to advise board members on opening doors to their networks.

  • Proven track record of achieving annual grant and fundraising targets

  • High energy, positive, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail; high degree of initiative.

  • Strong verbal communications skills and demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively.

  • Demonstrated abilities to prospect, cultivate, and manage new donor relationships.

  • Strong partnership-building skills.

  • Thorough understanding of all components of a diversified funding base.

  • Demonstrated computer skills, knowledge of database programs, and previous CRM use. Experience with Zoho One is a plus.

Compensation: $90,000 – $110,000
