At the Colorado Bankers Association (CBA), we are committed to empowering Coloradans by advancing the banking industry through effective government relations, comprehensive education, and valuable information resources. We are seeking a Director of Communications to play a key role in these efforts and support our member banks in serving their clients more effectively.

Job Summary: CBA is seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Communications to lead and enhance our communication efforts. In this pivotal role, you will develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies that effectively promote our mission to support and advance the banking industry in Colorado. You will be responsible for overseeing all internal and external communications, including media relations, content creation, and member outreach.
As the Director of Communications, you will collaborate closely with senior leadership to craft compelling messages, manage public relations efforts, and ensure consistent and impactful communication across various channels while reporting directly to the President & CEO. You will also oversee the creation of marketing materials, manage social media platforms, and coordinate with external partners to enhance CBA’s visibility and influence.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a keen understanding of the financial industry, and exceptional written and verbal communication abilities. You should be proactive, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a collaborative and innovative approach.

Schedule: This position is hybrid, with remote work on Mondays and Fridays and in-office work in downtown Denver from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays through Thursdays. Additional hours for events, travel or business needs may be required. Overtime exempt.

Salary range: $70,000 – $80,000

Responsibilities:

  • Work with President /CEO to assist in managing and organizing a strategic approach to maximize grassroots involvement in issues of pressing interest to the industry.
  • Develop and oversee the execution of an internal and external communications strategy that consists of distributing timely news and other organizational information to CBA members on a daily, weekly and as-needed basis.        
  • Develop and distribute all marketing materials for CBA events, educational offerings and products and services.
  • Media Relations
    • Drafting of media releases
    • Engage media through proactive and reactive efforts and initiatives that relay the messages and interests of the members of CBA.
    • Develop and manage beneficial relationships with media in Colorado and those who focus on financial services for national publications and outlets.
    • Executive-level interview preparation
  • Content
    • Create, curate and edit all content for CBA’s bimonthly Colorado Banker magazine – including columns on behalf of CBA leadership – and oversee publication process.
    • Create weekly newsletter to be distributed to all members of CBA
    • Use of design tools including, but not limited to, Publisher, InDesign, PicMonkey/Canva, Adobe
    • Creation of educational and marketing documents for all CBA events, presentations, marketing, programs and initiatives.
    • Ensure the organization’s website (CMS-HTML) remains a reliable communications tool to be utilized by CBA, bankers and associate members for information on baking news, CBA’s key issues and educational offerings.
  • Marketing
    • Curate, create and oversee publication of content on social media channels for CBA and its affiliates. Including LinkedIn and X
    • Promotion of upcoming events and conferences

Basic Qualifications:
To be successful you will need to possess these qualifications –

  • Three years of related experience in communications, marketing, PR and/or editorial knowledge required.
  • Proven communication management skills, including strong writing and editing capabilities
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented and ability to prioritize while juggling multiple projects concurrently and autonomously.
  • Positive, professional team player who takes ownership of work and readily lends a hand to coworkers when needed.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships and professional presence with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to provide examples of previous written communication, visual, marketing and social media campaigns.
  • Ability to manage and maintain company website using the Your Membership platform.
