A member of the College Initiatives Team, the Senior Manager of College Initiatives People and Program oversees people development for our college success team, including Directors and Managers of College Success. This position is responsible for managing a pipeline of potential leaders as well as the development of their college success program to ensure DSST Public School students have ample and viable college postsecondary options and the knowledge, skills, and mindsets they need to truly succeed in college and career.

 

 

People Development (35%)

  • In partnership with the Director of College Initiatives, manages and executes the vision for college success team development, in alignment with DSST’s people development philosophy and Leadership Core Competencies

  • In partnership with the Director of College Initiatives, manages the DSST college success team pipeline, and regularly engages key stakeholders to assess and understand DSST’s rising talent pool, and to ensure that high potential leaders are identified and developed

  • In partnership with Sr. Manager of College Success- Data, Coaches campus Directors of College Success on team health, leadership, and program strategy and execution

  • Analyzes and responds to multiple data sources to continuously assess and ensure college success team development program and program effectiveness 

 

9-12 Program (30%)

  • Manages and Creates success for our Willow Education partnership for 9th and 10th grade college seminar, ensuring students hit benchmarks and milestones for college and career identity

  • Lead DSST college success team in annual review of college success program expectations and processes

    • Including but not limited to SAT Boot Camp, DEEP Trips, Summer Programing, and Scholarships, including Ariel Berryman.

  • Facilitate sharing of resources and best practices to maximize students’ postsecondary choice and opportunity  

  • In partnership with the Senior Manager of College Initiatives Data and Systems and Directors of College Success, evaluate and support program refinement to maximize students’ postsecondary choice and opportunity  

  • Relies on and regularly implements innovative best practices

 

Internships and Industry Connect(25%)

  • Designs and co-creates internships curriculum and sequence alongside Internship Managers

  • Designs and co-creates Industry Connect course Preferences, Traditions, and Requirements with campus Industry Connect leads

  • Coaches and develops internship managers on best practices in internship placement and curriculum development and implementation

  • Coaches home office Industry Connect liaison on strong programming and career identity building

  • Partners with STEM team to ensure students have STEM-certificates-aligned opportunities

 

Additional Duties(10%) 

  • Model our Core Values, Commitment to the Human Condition, and our commitment to equity as a Leader within the Network

  • Play an active leadership role in building and sustaining Home Office culture

  • Engage with our school communities to actively build relationships between our schools and the home office

  • Participate in & support the execution of Home Office & Network-wide events

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree at an accredited college or university

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in K-12 institutions

  • At least 4 years of experience with college-related programming at the high school or college level

  • At least 2 years of  experience managing a team

 

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4+ years of experience in creating team vision, strategy, and development

  • An unwavering belief that all students can succeed in high school, reach their most ambitious post-secondary goals, and lead exemplary lives

  • Desire to personally professionally grow in their practice of becoming an anti-racist educator

  • Self-awareness, a regular practice of reflection, and a desire to continuously improve

  • Proven commitment to and experience with serving students of color, students with disabilities, and/or multilingual students
