POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director of Finance (DOF) at Raccoon Creek Golf Club serves as the strategic financial leader for a dynamic hospitality enterprise that includes a public golf course, The Farmhouse restaurant, and The Barn at Raccoon Creek—a premier wedding and event venue. This full-time, in-office position reports directly to the General Manager and plays a critical role in guiding financial operations, ensuring fiscal health, and supporting long-term growth across all departments.
The DOF oversees accounting, budgeting, payroll, and financial reporting functions, while also managing compliance, internal controls, and cash flow. This role requires a hands-on leader who can synthesize financial data into actionable insights and collaborate across departments to support the club’s mission of delivering exceptional guest experiences.

- The Barn at Raccoon Creek: A restored historic venue hosting over 100 weddings and private events annually, featuring rustic elegance and modern amenities.
JOB SUMMARY: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- The Director of Finance/Controller position is a full-time, in-office position.
- The Director of Finance/Controller is responsible for all financial aspects of the facility, including the Golf Course, Barn wedding and event venue, and Farmhouse restaurant. The position reports to the General Manager and coordinates all departments to ensure timely financial performance reporting.
- Oversee the accounting operations department, which includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, human resources, and payroll.
- Perform account reconciliations for all asset and liability accounts.
- Reconcile monthly bank statements for all three entities. Operating account, credit card account, and restaurant account.
- Assist the General Manager in preparing and monitoring the annual budgets.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports for the General Manager and committees.
- Analyzes various accounting reports such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, general ledger, and monthly financial statements.
- Ensure all state, local taxes, including sales tax and property taxes, are paid on time.
- Oversee HR and payroll issues, insurance, work comp, W-2s, payroll taxes, and payroll processing.
- Manages Financial Administrative Assistant.
- Establish and enforce accounting standards, policies, procedures, and controls to safeguard assets and reduce fraud.
- Maintains fixed asset schedules and prepares depreciation schedules for year-end.
- Monitors and manages property cash flow and coordinates the appropriate timing of issuing payments to vendors. Alerts General Manager and Administrator when cash flow problems exist.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, responsible for cash reconciliations, audit petty cash and cash banks, conduct internal audits, including testing of physical inventory counts.
- Attend all staff meetings as required.
- Perform other duties as required.
BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, preferably with a concentration in business or administration with an accounting major or minor and coursework in financial analysis and auditing.
- 5-10 years professional accounting experience with at least two of those years at the controller level or equivalent, preferably in a private club or hospitality operation.
- Knowledgeable in accounting, POS, and Microsoft Office software.
LICENSE AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Has a thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Has a proven track record of working independently, as well as within a team environment.
- Has demonstrated strong organization skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to various situations and needs quickly.
- Has strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. He or she can communicate effectively in a collaborative work environment.
- Has a demonstrated ability to follow through on commitments and meet deadlines.
- Is a courageous thought partner with the General Manager. He or she is detail-oriented but also a strategic thinker.
- Has thorough knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Point-of-Sale (POS) front and back-of-house systems.
SALARY/BENEFITS
- Salary Range: $90,000 – $110,000 per year, depending on experience.
