Title: DIRECTOR OF INFANT AND EARLY CHILDHOOD MENTAL HEALTH
Reports to: VICE PRESIDENT, PROGRAMS STRATEGY AND IMPACT
Classification: Full-time, Exempt

POSITION OVERVIEW
IIK seeks a Director of Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health (IECMH), a senior leader at Invest in Kids, reporting to the Vice President of Programs Strategy and Impact, responsible for advancing the statewide strategy communities interested in infant and children mental health programming or early dyadic services are supported as they work toward adding programming that IIK advocates for to their menu of services. This role provides vision, leadership, and operational oversight to support cross-programmatic and organizational learning and to ensure that implementation practices, successes, and challenges are disseminated throughout the organization and across Implementing Partner Organizations (IPOs), including oversight of replication efforts, delivery of clinical reflective and programmatic consultation, and coordination of training and outreach in partnership with program purveyors.

The Director serves as a key liaison between IIK, community partners, and state and regional stakeholders, and model purveyors while leading efforts to support Colorado communities in adopting and sustaining IECMH programming aligned with IIK’s priorities. The Director demonstrates strong leadership, high emotional intelligence, a commitment to equity, an openness to innovation, excellent communication skills, and is driven to make a meaningful impact in the rapidly growing field of infant and early childhood mental health.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Senior Leadership

  • Partner with the VP, Program Strategy and Impact and the Program Leadership Team to advance the IECMH focus area vision and strategy, data quality, evaluation, partnerships, in service to long-term impact.
  • Contribute to and strengthen the IIK culture by modeling the behaviors and leadership expected of a smart and healthy organization.
  • Serve as the clinical subject matter expert to inform and advance advocacy, public funding strategies, and workforce efforts for IECMH focus area.
  • Establish and maintain relationships and strong communication across members of Senior Leadership in service to leading through relationships and ensuring feedback loops are maintained throughout the organization.
  • Engage in weekly IIK Program Leadership Team meetings to center the Whole Child Approach, and ensure cross-program and cross-expertise sharing in service to aligned, high-quality and sustained service delivery across IIK’s areas of focus.
  • Engage with the entirety of Senior Leadership on an Ad Hoc basis in service to increased cohesion and collaboration across the organization.

Financial Responsibilities

  • Create, monitor, and advise the organization on all aspects of the IECMH budget and work in partnership with the Finance and Operations Department on annual execution.
  • Engage with the Philanthropy Department, sharing the IECMH team’s focus areas and vision to ensure strong collaboration in service to IIK obtaining funding aligned with IECMH priorities.
  • Work with the CEO and IIK contract lobbyists and Advocacy Committee as needed to vision and support any public funding agenda for IECMH programming.
  • Build out and be accountable for contract commitments and metrics for public and private funding awarded to deliver IIK’s IECMH programs.
  • Work in collaboration with government funders (i.e., CO Dept of Early Childhood, HCPF, BHA) to define and monitor site-specific objectives and strategies that support with quality program delivery and outcomes. Inclusive of leading annual planning processes including strategic goal setting, performance management, and IPO contracting

Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Program Support

  • Cultivate an equitable portfolio of IECMH programming that aligns with current best clinical practice, community needs, and the IIK mission.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with IECMH program purveyors to ensure alignment, communication and consistent feedback between field implementation and national replication and research
  • Child First Colorado Clinical Lead
    • a. Serve as primary clinical liaison with Changent in service to Child First national model support.
    • b. Provide day to day clinical oversight and management of the replication of Child First within Colorado.
    • c. Provide direct clinical reflective and programmatic consultation and administrative support to Child First IPOs in Colorado.
    • d. Must complete all related training to implement Child First with fidelity. Must also fulfill all requirements to be nationally rostered in Child Parent Psychotherapy, is not already accomplished.
    • e. Monitor and ensure quality enhancement and model fidelity with IPOs, including, but not limited to, site-specific support and the Child First Accreditation process.
    • f. Complete and conduct training and outreach in collaboration with Changent staff.
    • g. Serve as a liaison between Changent, IIK, and Child First IPOs.
    • h. Collaborate with Changent’s Program team and cross-collaborative groups in service to enhance Child First practice
    • i. Review and complete all necessary documentation associated with consultation practice and quality enhancement efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Extensive knowledge of infant and early childhood mental health, using a relationally-based dyadic model in behavioral health settings, through direct experience in the field.
  • Experience conducting reflective supervision and consultation with clinicians and support staff.
  • Experience implementing evidence-based practice with fidelity to model development.
  • Ability to lead a team of professionals supporting service providers in the field.
  • A flexible work style and comfort working both in a team setting and in a self-directed fashion.
  • Strong skills in taking initiative in service to the whole of IIK’s mission-driven work.
  • Ability to represent IIK in various local and statewide groups both in person and remotely.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Preferred training in Child-Parent Psychotherapy

REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s Degree or experience in Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health, Social Work, Psychology, Psychiatry, Marriage & Family Therapy or related area.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in early childhood development, dyadic relationships, attachment theory and trauma.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience supervising mental health clinicians
  • Strong strategic thinking and project management skills, with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans and drive progress toward organizational goals.
  • Demonstrated leadership in overseeing budgets and strategically aligning financial and program resources to advance organizational priorities and long-term impact
  • Experience working in home and community-based settings with populations of diverse cultures and ethnicities.
  • Available for overnight travel to local communities

SALARY

  • This position receives an annual salary of $88,000-$99,000, depending on related experience and education.

FULL TIME EQUIVALENT

  • Full time (40 hours per week) Hybrid in-office/remote currently available.
