The Department of Chemistry at Colorado State University, located in Fort Collins, CO, seeks to hire an Assistant Coordinator for Organic Chemistry Undergraduate Laboratories to support the operations and effectiveness of the organic chemistry lab teaching program. This position is a full-time, 12 month Professional/Individual Contributor administration professional position.

Primary responsibilities include ordering and maintaining an inventory of chemicals, glassware, and supplies necessary for the organic chemistry teaching labs and ensuring all chemicals and supplies are prepared and provided to students in the organic lab courses. The position will also assist in the oversight of safety regulations and the proper collection and storage of hazardous waste. Other responsibilities include assisting in the testing of new experimental procedures, implementing new lab curricula into operational practice, training and supervising student staff, maintaining lab equipment and instruments, and supporting faculty in development of teaching assistant training programs.

Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry, or closely related field. Two or more years’ experience working in an organic chemistry lab environment, experience with CSU policies, and an understanding of issues facing students in a college learning environment are highly preferred.
