Summary
Description
White River Strategy is a small, high-performing strategy firm that partners with leaders and organizations in moments that matter. We help clients bring clarity to complexity, make thoughtful decisions, and move forward with confidence. Our work is done through a variety of services, including: executive and team coaching, facilitation, AI integration and training, and strategic advising.
We are hiring an Associate Consultant to join our growing team. This is an ideal role for someone early in their career who is highly organized, deeply detail-oriented, strategic, client-ready, and excited to contribute across many parts of the work.
At White River Strategy, we take a team-based approach. Our work is collaborative, fast-moving, and varied. On any given week, this person may help design and create a proposal or client deliverable, prepare materials for a leadership meeting, conduct research, synthesize notes, manage timelines, support a workshop, or improve an internal system. We need someone who is comfortable moving between details and broader context, and who takes pride in making the whole team stronger.
This role is not narrowly defined. It is a strong fit for someone who likes variety, learns quickly, follows through, and is willing to step in where the work requires support. The right person will be trusted with meaningful work, coached by experienced colleagues, and included in client-facing projects from the beginning.
Because our work often happens in person with clients and as a team, this role requires the ability to travel to support client engagements, workshops, convenings, and offsites. Our team also gathers for in-person sessions up to two-days per month in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
What you’ll do
You will support client engagements from start to finish in a variety of ways. Responsibilities may include:
-
Coordinating project timelines, meetings, notes, and next steps
-
Preparing agendas, briefing materials, and client-ready documents
-
Conducting research and synthesizing key themes
-
Supporting workshops, convenings, and strategy sessions
-
Tracking details across multiple projects
-
Helping the team stay organized, responsive, and ahead of deadlines
-
Drafting clear, polished communications and follow-up materials
-
Supporting internal systems, tools, and processes that help a small team operate well
-
Reviewing and editing deliverables
-
Contributing wherever needed to ensure excellent client service and strong project execution
This role blends project management, client service, research, writing, operations, and strategic support.
What we’re looking for
We are looking for someone who brings:
-
3-5 years professional experience or a graduate degree
-
Exceptional attention to detail
-
Strong organization and follow-through
-
Clear writing and communication skills
-
Client-facing judgment and professionalism
-
Comfort managing multiple moving pieces
-
Ability to travel as needed
-
Curiosity, humility, a desire to learn, and a strong work ethic
-
A steady, practical approach to solving problems
-
Self-starter with the initiative to anticipate needs, take ownership, and move work forward
-
Comfort working in a small team where everyone contributes across the work
-
Proficiency with common workplace and project management tools, including Google Workspace, Slack, Microsoft Office, and Monday.com, is preferred
-
Bachelor’s degree required
Experience in consulting, nonprofits, public sector, strategy, communications, operations, policy, or project coordination is helpful, but not required.
You’ll be a strong fit if
You like making order out of complexity. You notice what others miss. You care about the quality of the final product. You are comfortable taking initiative, asking good questions, and learning quickly. You care deeply about your work and also love to have fun with what you’re doing.
You do not need to know everything on day one. You do need to be reliable, thoughtful, responsive, adaptable, and eager to build strong consulting fundamentals inside a team that cares deeply about quality, relationships, and impact.
Why White River Strategy
