PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Hiring Range for this position is: $42.99-$53.74/Hourly
This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of two days per week in the office at the Southeast Aurora Maintenance Facility (SEAM), located at 26711 E Quincy Ave, Aurora, CO 80016.
This is classified as VHBE (Variable Hour Benefit Eligible), where the selected candidate will work an average of 40 hours per week. The selected candidate will be eligible to elect Medical, Dental, and Vision Benefits as well as accrue paid time off and receive 10 paid holidays

OVERVIEW OF POSITION / DEPARTMENT
Aurora Water (AW) is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the drinking water, sanitary sewer and storm drainage systems, treatment of drinking water and non-potable reclaimed wastewater for irrigation, billing and collection, public outreach and water conservation, acquisition and development of future water rights, major capital projects programs, and quality control for regulatory compliance and public health.
The Business Solutions Architect – Power Platform specialist – is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of solutions within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, specifically focusing on SharePoint, Power Automate, Power BI, Power Apps, and Fabric. This role will serve as the primary technical expert for these platforms, supporting approximately 500 employees within a water utility environment. The Architect will collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their needs, translate those needs into technical solutions, and ensure the effective utilization of Microsoft 365 (M365) tools to improve business processes, enhance collaboration, and enable data-driven decision-making. This position requires a strong understanding of M365 administration, security best practices, and a passion for leveraging technology to solve business challenges.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintenance and support of existing SharePoint, Power BI, Power Automate, and Power App solutions.

Design and development of new M365 and Power Platform Solutions (Power BI, Power Automate, Power App, and Fabric) to address operational needs and enhance business processes.

Leverage Microsoft Copilot AI features to design and develop intelligent solutions that enhance productivity and streamline processes across the Power Platform.
-
M365 administration and support as it applies to Aurora Water staff.
-
Collaborate with City of Aurora IT (Global Tenant Admin) on architectural decisions.
-
IT Project management and implementation to include scope development, team assembly, vendor inclusion, business liaison, document development, and solution execution.

Develop and maintain a roadmap for M365 business solution deployments, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
-
Develop, and train others to develop, SharePoint sites and solutions for business process management, document storage, and records management.
-
Complete business requirements analysis to identify opportunities for improvement.

Provide tailored stakeholder communication and collaboration using appropriate detail and context based on the role of the user (e.g. Field Staff vs Executive).

Lead a group of approximately 30 power users by establishing best practices for Aurora Water’s M365 environment including Power BI, SharePoint, and Power Automate.

Develop and maintain solution documentation, including requirements, design documents, and training materials.

Provide expert guidance on Microsoft technologies to internal teams and stakeholders.

Stay up to date with the latest Microsoft 365 features, updates, and best practices, and proactively recommend improvements to the organization's environment.

Conduct workshops and training sessions to increase the adoption and proficiency of Microsoft business applications among employees and ensure adherence to best practices where required.

Monitor solution performance and identify opportunities for optimization.

Govern, maintain, and audit the security and compliance of M365 to ensure security, compliance, and sufficient content management.

Participate in project planning and contribute to the development of IT strategies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Education:
-
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
-
Three (3) years’ experience with Microsoft Power Platform including SharePoint, Power BI, Power Automate, and Power Apps.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Understanding of ITIL framework or other IT service management methodologies.
-
Microsoft certifications related to Microsoft 365 are highly desirable (e.g., Microsoft 365 Certified: Developer Associate, Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Developer Associate).

Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell and Python.

Experience working in a regulated industry, such as utilities.

Understanding the software development life cycle.

Project management principles.
