Summary

We’re looking for a rare creative — someone who can both write beautiful, compelling copy and edit with laser precision. As our Copy Editor & Writer, you’ll be the guardian of grammar, voice, and tone across our content, and the pen behind many of our brand’s most important messages. You’ll write fresh copy, polish existing drafts, and ensure every word that goes out the door is clear, aligned, and typo-free.

Description

If you love tightening a messy paragraph, rewriting a headline for more punch, and catching an out-of-place comma from a mile away — we want to meet you.

Key Responsibilities

Original Copywriting
• Write original copy for a wide variety of needs, including:
o Email campaigns
o Print materials (event signage, workbooks, curriculum)
o Web content
o Video and podcast scripts
o Product descriptions and promotional blurbs
o Sales materials
• Capture and refine the MomCo voice across platforms and formats.
• Collaborate with creative team members to bring strategic ideas to life through words.

Editing & Proofing
• Edit and proofread content from other teams for grammar, punctuation, clarity and brand tone.
• Polish internal drafts into final-ready copy.
• Ensure consistency in formatting, style, and messaging across all written materials.
• Maintain accuracy, especially in details like names, dates, Scripture references, product names, and formatting.
• Maintain our Brand Architecture Guide as a living document that needs constant refinement. Train staff and uphold these guidelines in all copy.

Final QA & Content Accuracy
• Serve as the last set of eyes on major content before it goes live — reviewing for typos, formatting issues, clarity, and visual/text alignment.
• Cross-check content across platforms (Google Docs, slides, InDesign layouts, webpages) to ensure fidelity and cohesion.
• Help uphold MomCo’s standard of excellence by preventing small errors from becoming big distractions.

Job Qualifications
• Follower of Jesus and able to faithfully sign and uphold the MomCo Faith and Values Statement.
• 3–5+ years of professional writing and/or editing experience
• Impeccable command of grammar, spelling, and punctuation
• Strong portfolio of both long-form and short-form writing
• Experience writing for faith-based, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizations preferred
• Familiarity with style guides (AP Style preferred)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite; familiarity with collaborative editing tools (e.g., Asana) a plus
• Denver-based or willing to be in-office 2–3 days per week preferred

Bonus Points If You:
• Have worked in publishing, journalism, ministry, or curriculum development
• Can edit a line of Scripture for formatting and a call to action for punch — in the same sitting
• Are equal parts word nerd and storytelling enthusiast

Benefits and Pay
• Pay range: $22 – $23 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
• Eligible to participate in a variety of benefits:
o Unlimited PTO
o Healthcare Insurance
o Dental Insurance
o Vision Insurance
o Flexible Spending Accounts
o 403 (b) Retirement Savings Plan
o Short-term Disability Insurance
o 13 holidays per year
o 1 spiritual retreat day per year
