Summary
Description
Director of External Affairs & Communications
The Colorado Automobile Dealers Association is a 501(c)(6) trade association that represents Colorado’s 270+ franchised new car dealers. As the trade association for automobile dealers, CADA advocates for key legislative and regulatory issues impacting the auto industry, as well as Colorado’s motor vehicle dealers and consumers.
The Director of External Affairs & Communications serves as a liaison to the franchised dealer body, service providers in the industry, legislators and has limited managerial responsibilities over staff and event contractors. This position will be a direct report of the President/CEO and will often run operations a team.
There are four silos of responsibility: 1) External Affairs will maintain contact and facilitate relationships with our endorsed providers and allied members (industry service providers working in cooperation with the Association). 2) Communications will own the communications operations silo of the Association, to include publishing periodicals, maintaining and scheduling e-mail schedules of member-dealers and media requests, and owning our data operation – management only, we do not sell. 3) Event Planning is a communications liaison to our events team, in the form of the Colorado Auto Show, regional meetings, our annual golf tournament, and 1:1 dealer visits (which you may attend to learn the industry). 4) Finally, this position oversees our fundraising efforts, typically focused around those same events.
This position will offer limited opportunity for conference travel, at the applicant’s election.
To Apply:
Please submit a resume and letter of interest, to include medium- to long-term goals. Cover letters, writing samples, and letters of recommendation are not necessary at this time. Our philosophy is to hire the person, not the position. We will use the interview process to gauge fit with the team and the industry. Strong preference for a Colorado-based applicant. Background in communications and/or events would be a plus.
Please reply directly to matthew.groves@colorado.auto. Individual applicants only.
Compensation:
The role could shrink or expand based on the capabilities and interests of the proper applicant. Therefore, compensation bands could be between $55,000 and $80,000 per year, including base and the possibility of commission. Additionally, CADA offers a generous benefits package to include health care, vision/dental, life insurance, and a 401(k) plan with employer contributions and limited employer match.
