What We Offer
The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The hiring salary range for this position is $67,161.00/year – $88,988.00/year. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to:

- 140 hours of PTO earned within first year + 11 paid holidays, 1 personal holiday and 1 volunteer day per year

The City and County of Denver has announced furlough days, or unpaid days off, for most employees to meet a budget shortfall in 2025. There are two fixed furlough days for all limited (temporary positions with an end date) and unlimited (permanent) employees on August 29th, the Friday before Labor Day, and November 28th, the day after Thanksgiving. If you receive an offer for this position, your annual pay will determine whether you are required to take additional furlough days. Details will be discussed during the offer process for selected candidate(s).

Location
These positions can expect to work on-site at Overland Park Golf Course (1801 S. Huron Street) five (5) days per week.

Denver Golf is looking to hire a Head Golf Professional to join their team at Overland Park Golf Course. The oldest running golf course west of the Mississippi River and the original Denver Country Club, Overland is covered in Denver history. The 18-hold regulation course showcases open fairways and inviting greens conveniently located just minutes from downtown Denver. A new junior course, grass driving range, putting and chipping greens, full-service restaurant, and stocked pro shop makes Overland the complete package for golfers and visitors alike. The Head Golf Professional will perform supervisory responsibilities and conduct full-performance golf professional work; devise, coordinate, and promote daily play and tournament activities, provide golf lessons, and direct the operations of the golf pro shop and golf cart fleet.
Specifically, as a Head Golf Professional you will:
·Manage all operations of the pro shop, driving range, and golf cart fleet
·Work with Golf Course Superintendent to coordinate daily play, tournament, and other golf activities, to balance play and conditioning to appropriate levels; to provide maximum service and enhance revenue
·Oversee all retail aspects of the pro shop including monitoring inventory levels, and seasonal orders for all apparel and accessories
·Assist with development of departmental budget, and conduct general accounting duties
·Enforce golf course rules and regulations, and maintain USGA standards and policies
·Develop performance evaluation program for functions within the unit; monitors and documents employee performance, provides ongoing feedback regarding levels of performance, and formally evaluates employees in relation to goals
·Design and implement pace of play initiatives as well as tournament programs to increase course revenue and enhance guest satisfaction
·Respond to guest concerns in a professional manner, and ensure staff maintain and exceed our top-notch guest service standards
What You’ll Bring
We are looking for a knowledgeable and self-motivated professional with strong customer service and interpersonal skills. Moreover, we are seeking someone who relishes opportunities to teach, has strong merchandising experience, and golf club knowledge.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Experience managing golf tournaments and all aspects of a golf retail operation
- Experience managing and influencing a high volume of employees
- Experience as a Head Golf Professional
- Experience using EZLinks Point of Sale and Teesheet (experience on other electronic tee sheet and Point of Sale applications will be considered)
- Superior attention to detail and organization skills
- Basic understanding of accounting and budgeting
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Process oriented and logical thinking skills
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Education Requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
- Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of experience as a golf professional or assistant golf professional operating in a high volume golf facility.
- Education and Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
- License/Certification Requirement: Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application. Requires certification as a class "A" PGA or LPGA member in good standing.
Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
