Your Role

Gensler is seeking a creative, motivated and collaborative individual to join our Southwest region as a Public Relations Specialist. Working in one of the firm’s largest and most dynamic regions, you will play an integral role on the Public Relations & Communications team, communicating our firm’s unique projects and process, and how they differentiate us from our competition across the region. A proven storyteller, you have a nose for news and the latest trends and are adept at connecting our regional practice to the larger cultural zeitgeist. 

You will simultaneously manage multiple deliverables with strategic thinking – underscored by a solid understanding of the regional and local design and real estate markets. Across our Denver, Phoenix, Las Vegas, San Diego and Newport Beach offices, you will be responsible for media outreach and identifying engaging stories for a wide range of reporters. In concert with local marketing teams, you will develop meaningful thought leadership pieces and deploy applicable firmwide research at the regional level. You will also collaborate closely with the broader Communications Teams on awards programs and social media locally and regionally.  

Reporting to the Regional Public Relations Director, the Regional Public Relations Specialist will work closely with Southwest office leaders and practice area leaders to identify stories, secure opportunities, and develop proactive campaigns across various platforms in support of strategic objectives.  

What You Will Do 

Public Relations  

  • Identify story angles and appropriate journalists/publications to engage regionally 

  • Create and update targeted PR Plans for projects and practice areas

  • Have a pulse on current and upcoming projects and initiatives throughout the offices that best support practice area POVs, PR strategies, and client relationships 

  • Work with regional marketing teams, project design teams and clients to write press materials (design backgrounders, press releases, pitches, fact sheets, messaging) 

  • Work with Gensler spokespeople to develop presentation content and talking points, speaker preparation and briefing material

  • Maintain media lists

  • Maintain editorial calendars 

  • Work with office leadership on development of blog posts and bylines 

  • Assist with photo and video shoots as appropriate 

  • Vet inbound media requests 

  • Track and measure PR hits; organize press clippings across the region 

  • Assist Regional PR Director with special projects, as needed 

  • Work with regional marketing leaders to monitor speaking engagement calendar and manage inbound speaking opportunities, pitches and call-for-speaker deadlines as appropriate 

  • Support on personnel announcements including new hires, promotions, etc.  

Social Media 

  • Work in concert with regional marketing teams to maintain social media posting cadence for Gensler’s southwest social media channels including content sourcing and post creation  

  • Work with regional marketing teams and office directors + other social media champions by office on personal LinkedIn posting 

Awards 

  • Work in concert with regional marketing teams to maintain calendar of awards submission across the region, including monitoring project submissions 

Your Qualifications 

  • Attitude: Proactive, energetic, can-do attitude and desire to work in a results-oriented environment. Desire and ability to manage multiple relationships and deadlines at the same time. Team player. Motivated, tenacious, and resourceful  

  • Presentation: polished professionalism with a comfort level interacting with high-level executives  

  • Communication: strong writing, editing, grammar and interpersonal skills. Ability to craft, prepare, and execute writing assignments (pitches, project narratives, blog posts, bylines) under deadlines  

  • Organizational: ability to self-manage projects around expected delivery dates  

  • Teamwork: works cohesively as a member of a broader communications team, pitches in to help others, forward-thinking go-getter; ability to adapt in dynamic settings 

  • Client/customer service: understanding of public relations as a service to the region 

  • Administrative: ongoing support of reporting materials on behalf of the regional PR team 

  • Experience: At least 6-10 years of public relations experience; agency experience preferred; background in architecture, design and journalism is very desirable 

  • Software: Microsoft Office, InDesign, Cision 

**The base salary range will be estimated between $90, 000 – $110,000 plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience.
