The Opportunity
The Senior Vice President, Communications, leads the external and internal communications strategies for the Daniels Fund to increase awareness of the foundation and advance its work. Bill Daniels was a leader and innovator in the communications field and the “Daniels” brand was of utmost importance. The leader of the communications effort at the Daniels Fund will ensure we preserve and enhance the first-class standard of excellence in our materials and communications efforts.
The Role
The Senior Vice President, Communications will:
- Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive strategic communications plan for the Daniels Fund that:
- Positions the Daniels Fund as a leading foundation in the nation that is influencing American life
- Tells the compelling stories of the Daniels Fund, its founder, grantees and scholars, partners, and team in a manner that brings the impacts to life
- Clearly communicates the mission of the foundation and values of Bill Daniels
- Increases awareness of and partnership opportunities for the foundation
- Utilizes a wide range of communications tools including earned, paid, owned and social media, as well as events
- Build, manage, and coach the communications team, fostering growth and development to help each member reach their potential. Set and track team goals and budgets to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
- Cultivate a strong network with non-profit and foundation partners to advance the work of Daniels Fund. Actively engage with other communications professionals, including those in foundations, within our four-state region.
- Lead the development and dissemination of a messaging platform to ensure consistency of language and advancement of mission. Oversee the implementation of messaging through speeches, media, social platforms, website, events (internal and external), and other communications mediums. Be abreast of new trends and tools that are relevant to all stakeholder groups and audiences.
- Support the CEO, board chair and senior team members with message development, speech writing, presentation development and other editing and communications needs.
- Actively collaborate with the Senior Vice President, Legacy and Donor Intent, to align communications strategies with efforts to maintain and advance the legacy of Bill Daniels.
- Maintain relationships with media outlets and reporters across the Daniels Fund’s four-state region, as well as national contacts.
- Ensure consistency of Daniels Fund brand including visual assets, photography, messaging, voice, etc.
- Serve as the clearinghouse for external communications from the Fund and executive leadership.
- Manage all communications platforms from website to social media on behalf of the Daniels Fund.
- Serve as a spokesperson with media and in the community on an as-needed basis.
- Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Compensation and Benefits
The compensation for this position will be in the range of $180,000 to $220,000 and is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Daniels Fund offers a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, paid holidays, health, dental, vision insurance, long-term disability, life insurance, a matched 401k retirement plan and a host of additional benefits.
