We are seeking a Sr Manager of Philanthropy to advance AWWA’s Philanthropic Vision. This position will manage AWWA’s Water Equation program, including developing strategies and fundraising goals, collaborating with member-volunteers, Sections, and AWWA committees to execute strategies across the water sector, all with a focus on partnerships with foundations beyond the water industry.
Essential Functions
- Develop Foundation Partnerships: Research, strategize, and build relationships with foundations to secure grant revenue streams that support and expand AWWA's program portfolio.
- Lead Philanthropic Initiatives: Partner with AWWA leadership, committees, volunteers, and subject matter experts to develop and manage initiatives like scholarships, TWLA funding, and the Community Engineering Corp.
- Strategic Planning: Align with AWWA’s Strategic Plan to create annual and 3-5 year plans, setting clear revenue targets.
- Staff Liaison: Engage with AWWA committees, Sections, volunteer leaders, and the Board of Directors to drive philanthropic priorities.
- Champion AWWA Philanthropy: Serve as an advocate for AWWA’s philanthropy among members, Sections, donors, water industry leaders, and public and private foundations.
- Build Donor Development Systems: Establish sustainable donor management processes, including a database, and recognition lists.
- Oversee Water Equation Marketing: Direct marketing for Water Equation, including producing an annual Impact Report to showcase results.
Supervisory Duties
- Support AWWA mission and vision in all interactions with staff.
- Provide leadership to direct reports.
- Help direct reports overcome any organizational obstacles encountered.
- Foster a positive work environment.
- Demonstrate and model AWWA core competencies in communication, productivity, quality, responsiveness and leadership.
- Model and facilitate exceptional customer service to improve internal and external customer satisfaction.
- Full supervisory responsibility for recruitment, hiring, retention, performance and professional development, coaching, mentoring, performance management, and termination of direct reports.
Qualifications
Education, Certifications or Formal Training:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience
Work Experience:
- Minimum of five (5) years’ progressively responsible experience in philanthropic fund-raising. Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) preferred.
- Experience developing initiatives from concept through implementation required.
- 3-5 years’ experience representing charitable/philanthropic organization and/or initiatives locally, regionally, nationally. Additional international experience a plus.
- Demonstrated experience in influencing successful closure of relationship-based sales.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and Outlook required.
Compensation/Benefits
Pay is dependent upon qualifications; Pay range is targeted between $89,414 to $102,188 per year and is paired with a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
