Summary of Role:
Be a critical part of ensuring that every child in Colorado has a voice and a hopeful future. Colorado CASA (COCASA) is seeking an Executive Director to lead this statewide nonprofit organization in its commitment to support local CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) programs and increase awareness of and support for CASA programs in Colorado.

We are looking for a high profile and deeply connected leader with the ability to create a common and strategic vision for local CASA programs throughout the entire state of Colorado. This is a dynamic and public-facing position that requires strong leadership in the areas of facilitation, fundraising, marketing, business operations, staff management, government relations and advocacy.

Job Description:
1. COCASA ED will create and execute on a multi-year fundraising strategy that increases state and local funding through foundations, corporations, and individual donors. The state ED will spearhead and attend fundraising meetings, oversee and execute on grant applications and have a heavy presence in the community
2. Visit with frequency each of the local offices throughout the state of Colorado and embrace and strategize solutions to common challenges and share successes with the network and the community
3. Develop and execute upon a recruitment strategy to generate volunteer leads on behalf of the network
4. Maintain relationships with other State Executive Directors and the national CASA office
5. Successfully develop and execute events representing the state at-large
6. Provide leadership and oversight on all financial and day-to-day operations including: oversight of two direct reports and several outsourced roles, budget and financial statements, board reporting and governance, grant reporting and state pass through management and serving on multiple board and program committees
7. Create and execute upon a strategic marketing, public relations and social media content strategy on behalf of the state, including relationships with media outlets that ensures frequent coverage of CASA
8. Work in coordination with the COCASA Legislative Committee, local programs, and our legislative consultancy to maintain or increase the current legislative funding, and serve on appropriate statewide committees or otherwise ensure participation by COCASA. Will also need to have frequent and consistent presence at the state capital during session.

● Has nonprofit management experience that includes fundraising, marketing, and governance
● Can represent, discuss, and work with professionals in the field of social services, child welfare, judicial system, etc.
● Has experience and comfort managing the financial aspects of an organization
● Is an action-oriented leader who is energetic, passionate, and demonstrates the ability to motivate and inspire others
● Is effective at managing staff including evaluating, coaching, hiring, and onboarding
● Clearly and succinctly communicates in a variety of settings
● Balances collaboration with board members and staff of local programs, while taking a leadership role and independent action
● Makes good decisions in a timely fashion based on a mix of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment
● Is highly ethical and trustworthy
● Practices attentive and active listening
● Demonstrates organizational skills, good judgment, and the ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality
● Is proficient in Microsoft, Google Apps, Salesforce, Project Management and other related programs, software, email and office equipment
● Develops expertise about CASA programming and communicate with stakeholders in the court systems and other governmental entities across the State of Colorado
● Leads strategic visioning in order to develop and lead a sustainable statewide organization

Qualifications/Education:
We prefer candidates who have a bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business Administration, or related fields. Masters degrees are welcome as well. Candidates must have a minimum of five years of leadership experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary. Travel throughout the state and some evening work is required, as relationship-building is key to this role. Successfully completing a background check is a condition of employment. Previous knowledge and experience with the child welfare system in Colorado is a huge plus.

Compensation and Benefits:
This is a full-time, work-from-home position (including managing a team that works virtually) with frequent travel throughout the state. The starting salary is $120,000–155,000, depending on experience. Bonuses and salary increases will be based on measurable outcomes. COCASA’s offers a competitive and comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, a Simple IRA compensation program with 3% employer match, 10-12 paid holidays per year (we follow the Colorado Court System holiday schedule), 18 PTO days per year, and a flexible schedule for team members to prioritize family commitments.

About Colorado CASA:
Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers make a life-changing difference for children who have experienced abuse or neglect. Volunteers are appointed by judges to advocate for children’s best interests in court. CASA volunteers establish stable relationships with children in the child welfare system and children in foster care, getting to know their unique history and making informed recommendations to the courts. Their advocacy enables judges to make the most well-informed decision for each child.
