This role will be based in Steamboat Springs, Colorado and will support the organization in growing from 56 new members in 2024 to 300 new members during the first year of expansion (July 2025 – June 2026). The ideal candidate will have an exceptional ability to generate engagement and create buy-in in small mountain communities. This candidate will be persistent, resilient, and able to achieve results even when faced with setbacks. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Recruit and retain volunteers to lead a robust calendar of events in Steamboat Springs
- Develop an outstanding engagement strategy that results in a strong roster of committed and excited volunteers
- Build and maintain pivotal relationships with local partners (gyms, recovery centers, recreation programs, etc.)
- Collaborate with partners to generate interest in special events and increase membership
- Get creative! This person needs to think outside the box to ensure strong attendance at weekly events such as bowling, pickleball, and seasonal activities like Ski Free Sundays
- Lead Phoenix events as needed, ensuring alignment with The Phoenix’s ethos and guidelines
- Handle scheduling, logistics, and event communications
- Improve and iterate! Evaluate programs and metrics using an innovative mindset to ensure that the Steamboat chapter grows and flourishes.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of relevant work or volunteer experience (community outreach, volunteer engagement, project coordination, etc.)
- Experience in volunteer coordination, community organizing, or program support
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Comfort with facilitating group activities and events
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet project goals
- Familiarity with tracking outcomes and documenting program activities
- Availability to work a flexible schedule that sometimes includes early mornings, evenings, and weekends
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel within Routt and Moffatt Counties approximately 15% of the time
PREFERENCES

HOURS, RATE, AND TERM LENGTH
- This is a part-time term-limited role working up to 20 hours per week
- Hourly rate: $28.00
- Term: October 2025 – June 2026 with possibility of extension
- 403(b) retirement plan with 4% match
