that love with others. At multiple locations throughout our community, we help restore the lives of people experiencing homelessness and addiction through emergency services, rehabilitation, transitional programs, and community outreach.

The Opportunity:

The Vice President of People & Culture (VPPC) is a key member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and is responsible for implementing strategic HR initiatives that align with the organization’s mission and vision. The VPPC will lead the P&C team and oversee the delivery of critical human resources (HR) services.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • People & Culture Strategy: Collaborate with SLT to strategically align HR initiatives with organizational mission, vision, and strategic goals.
  • Team Leadership: Recruit, train, develop, manage the P&C team while fostering a culture of high-performance, accountability, collaboration, and Christian values. Provide leadership and guidance for P&C to manage day-to-day work and support fluctuations and prioritization in workload.
  • Benefits and Leave Management: Guide benefits and wellness strategy to ensure competitive and value-added programs are in place. Oversee leave programs such as FMLA and Colorado FAMLI.
  • Compliance: Monitor the organization’s adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, modifying policies and practices as necessary to maintain compliance.
  • Employee Relations and Engagement: Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture and ensure consistent and effective management of ER matters. Oversee unemployment insurance program.
  • Operational Excellence: Leverage technology to optimize HR processes and workflows for efficiency and effectiveness. Ensure accurate and secure management of all HR data and records. Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboards to track HR performance and measure the impact of HR initiatives. Stay abreast of HR trends, best practices, and legal and regulatory changes to drive continuous improvement. Contribute to employer branding strategies that foster a ‘best places to work’ culture.
  • Organizational Development: Oversee onboarding, succession planning, career pathing, and professional and leadership development programs to nurture talent while supporting long-term workforce planning needs.
  • Performance Management: Develop and implement programs to drive employee development, engagement, and accountability.
  • Risk Management: Oversee guest/participant, facility, volunteer, and employee safety and risk programs. Direct workers compensation program to ensure compliance and management of claims and costs.
  • Talent Acquisition: Provide strategic direction on strategies to ensure recruitment and retention of top talent and alignment with the Mission’s long-term goals.
  • Total Rewards: Oversee compensation and job classification program including guiding pay practices, managing compensation model updates, analyzing trends in compensation and benefits to ensure the organization attracts the best talent. Serves as the main point of contact and relationship manager with benefits broker, health insurance carriers, compensation consultant, and other partners.

MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Ten years of progressive HR leadership experience in a related environment. A combination of education and experience may be substituted.
  • Strong HR acumen; in-depth knowledge federal, state, and local employment and labor laws; and expertise in HR best practices and applications. Labor relations experience preferred.
  • Experience with process improvement and project management.
  • HR certification preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop HR programs and teams. Must be a strategic leader with the ability to implement tactically.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, analytical, problem-solving, and priority setting skills.
  • Ability to quickly assess situations and make sound judgements, prioritize, communicate accurate and timely information, and manage confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to foster a high-performing, inclusive, and collaborative workplace culture.
  • High emotional intelligence, including but not limited to:
  • Critical awareness and thinking.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and build trusting, collaborative relationships.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences and manage crutial conversations.
  • Ability to maintain composure and credibility.
  • Executive leadership presence, ability to lead by example and excercise administrative courage.
  • Ability to engage with, and provide thought partnership to, SLT and Board of Directors.
  • Working knowledge of Office 365 applications. Proficiency in HRMS systems (such as Paylocity). Ability to use other technologies such project management and access card systems.
  • Must be a Christian holding to the beliefs set forth in the Statement of Faith, expressed by a personal testimony and Christian conduct.
  • Ability and desire to serve vulnerable populations in a humble, caring and non-judgemental manner.
  • Ability to report to all facilities, respond outside of business hours, and in various weather conditions.
  • Active Driver’s License and ability to travel to Mission facilities, and meetings, events, conferences, trainings, and other work-related functions. Travel may include within and outside of Colorado and overnight.
