Our client, Livable Cities Studio is a mission-driven urban design, planning, and landscape architecture firm dedicated to creating equitable, sustainable, and people-centered public spaces. Based in Denver, we use design as a tool to transform infrastructure and the public realm into city-shaping, community-building assets.
We are seeking an experienced Operations and Accounting Manager to join our team and play a key leadership role in the daily operations, finances, and human resources of our growing studio. You’ll help build systems that support our work and values: efficiency, inclusivity, transparency, and creativity. This newly created position reports to President and Founder and will have a hybrid work schedule with 3 days in office (we are located in RiNo) and 2 days from home. This role is a fantastic opportunity for a self-directed, organized, detail-oriented individual.
Specific Duties Include:
Operations:

Oversee and optimize daily office operations, including project timelines, workflows, vendor relations, and compliance.

Implement systems for tracking contracts, insurance, project compliance, and professional development.

Coordinate onboarding for new projects and maintain contract-related reporting.

Lead the planning and execution of our office relocation in spring 2026.
Accounting & Financial Management:

Manage accounts receivable/payable, invoicing, and financial reporting.

Collaborate with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.

Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with tax and legal standards.

Support cash flow monitoring and generate regular performance reports.
Human Resources & Culture:

Promote a culture of inclusion, collaboration, and professional growth.

Lead HR operations including payroll administration, benefits, employee relations, and recruiting.

Ensure legal compliance in all HR practices and maintain up-to-date employee records.
Experience, Capabilities and Skills:
-
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field and/or equivalent experience.

8+ years of experience in business operations or accounting, preferably in a creative or design studio setting. Small business experience is a plus.

Preferred experience in the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) industry.

Knowledge of FAR-compliant indirect cost rates is a plus.

Strong skills in financial reporting, budgeting, and project accounting.

Familiarity with HR practices, payroll systems, and compliance regulations.

Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Strategic mindset with excellent communication and leadership skills.

Demonstrates discretion and sound judgment in managing sensitive financial and personnel information.

Familiarity with creative software like Adobe Creative Suite.

Compensation and Benefits:

Compensation range: $80,000-$100,000, dependent on experience
