The Denver Business Journal seeks a reporter to cover commercial real estate at a time when dramatic changes are sweeping through business.

The real estate beat requires the ability to build and work strong source networks to unearth deals before the competition and report both the dollar value and the broad impact of new projects, employers and players. We need someone who loves writingis driven to dig up news and is intrigued by the challenge of reporting daily updates and piecing together larger stories about the forces shaping our community.

From expansions, relocations and other deals, to community policies impacting the project pipeline, a good Business Journal reporter owns their coverage, is meticulous with fact-checking and details, and can assess what merits a brief story or an in-depth investigation.

The ideal candidate will blend traditional journalism skills — source building, sharp news judgment, interviewing prowess and scoop-driven reporting — with an understanding of how to develop the human and business stories from public records, transactions and simple environmental observations.

This reporter should be intensely curious about everything from the potential of empty land to the leasing success of a finished office tower. Beyond physical projects, a real estate reporter should find and tell stories about the people driving change and trends impacting the industry.
