KOTO News is seeking a motivated, part-time general assignment reporter for a small, nonprofit community radio station. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field, or experience covering community news. This position is 24 hours a week. KOTO News is a small operation with ambitious goals. Our newscasts air Monday through Friday, so be prepared to meet a daily deadline. Candidates must have a thorough understanding of all aspects of news coverage, including the importance of adhering to the almighty deadline and the Code of Ethics. The right person will be willing to hit the ground running. There is plenty of room for creative storytelling apart from the daily grind.

News Director

The News Director manages a team of news professionals to advance the reputation of the university through telling compelling stories of its research, faculty, students and staff in a way that is meaningful and clearly demonstrates the positive impact on humanity and the innovative nature of the work. The primary goals of the unit are to ensure that university research and other stories of positively impacting humanity and innovation are being picked up and shared by targeted media and external partners, and shared via strategic social media channels. The Director will create goals and a strategy for the targeted areas of media in which the university wants to develop a presence, the metrics related to those targeted markets, and processes under the guidance of the AVC for Strategic Media Relations and with input from the senior management of the university. The Director works with other internal managers to leverage talent in units across the university to coordinate on – and strategically share – the best stories from across the university to further leverage media coverage. The Director will also collaborate with the Strategic Relations team to ensure that content is deployed in the most strategic internal and community channels. The Director collaborates regularly with communicators across campus to find the most compelling stories, assign coverage and coordinate on and plan high-level campus announcements.
