Scion Executive Search has been retained to partner with A Precious Child, a dynamic and impactful 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, in the search for a Major Gifts Officer. This is an exciting opportunity for a relationship-driven, results-oriented fundraising professional to advance mission-critical work that empowers children and families in need.
The Major Gifts Officer will serve as a lead frontline fundraiser, responsible for cultivating and stewarding high-capacity donors and prospects while building a robust major giving program. This individual will play a pivotal role in shaping the long-term financial sustainability of A Precious Child and expanding its philanthropic reach throughout the Denver metro area and beyond.
This full-time, exempt role reports to the Chief Development Officer and is based in Broomfield, Colorado. The position follows a hybrid schedule, with regular travel throughout the region and occasional evening and weekend event attendance.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Major Gifts Officer will lead the development and execution of strategies to secure gifts of $10,000 and above. Managing a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals and corporate partners, this leader will be responsible for raising $750,000+ annually. This role is ideal for a seasoned fundraiser with deep experience in donor relationship management, a strong presence in the Denver philanthropic landscape, and the ability to build a major gifts program from the ground up.
Working in close partnership with the Chief Development Officer and Chief Executive Officer, the Major Gifts Officer will play a vital role in deepening donor engagement, expanding fundraising capacity, and helping to shape a sustainable, growth-oriented development strategy.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Secure major gifts of $10,000+ by building and sustaining meaningful donor relationships.

Achieve or exceed an annual fundraising target of $750,000 from major donors.

Develop and execute personalized moves management plans aligned with donor interests and giving capacity.

Build a pipeline of new major donors through prospect research, cold outreach, and strategic networking.

Develop and manage a portfolio of 125–150 individual donors and prospects, maintaining active stewardship and solicitation plans.

Design and lead cultivation strategies, including one-on-one meetings, events, and donor experiences.

Partner with executive leadership to engage key stakeholders and align giving opportunities with organizational priorities.

Maintain accurate donor records and activity tracking using the organization’s donor database (CRM).

Generate timely, data-informed reports on portfolio activity and fundraising performance.

Contribute to the development of donor communications, acknowledgments, proposals, and impact reports.

Represent A Precious Child at community and fundraising events.
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a demonstrated track record of securing five- and six-figure gifts.

Demonstrated success managing major gift portfolios and achieving annual fundraising targets of $500K+

Passion for A Precious Child’s mission, with a demonstrated commitment to child and family well-being.

Proven ability to independently manage a major gifts portfolio and consistently meet or exceed fundraising goals.

Experience building and expanding donor pipelines, ideally in the $10K–$25K range.

Strong ties to the Denver philanthropic and corporate community.

Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build authentic relationships with donors, board members, and key community stakeholders.

Expertise in donor cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and moves management strategies.

Familiarity with donor research tools, CRM systems, and performance tracking.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and mission-driven environment.

Willingness to travel locally and work evenings/weekends for donor engagement events.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This is a meaningful opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of children and families experiencing hardship. The full-time, exempt role offers a competitive annual salary range of $100,000 to $120,000, based on experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, plus employer-paid life insurance.
The organization provides paid time off, wellness hours, accruing sick leave, and paid parental leave after one year of service. Employees also receive 12 paid holidays each year, with an additional paid day off to celebrate their birthday.
In addition to salary, A Precious Child offers a 401(k) retirement plan with a 2 percent employer match after one year of employment.
