The Workforce Engagement & Communications Support Specialist plays an essential role within the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment’s (CDLE) Employment & Training (E&T) Division, supporting internal communications, staff engagement, and public relations efforts.

$28.30 – $40.23 Hourly 
$2,264.31 – $3,218.31 Biweekly
$4,906.00 – $6,973.00 Monthly
$58,872.00 – $83,676.00 Annually 
The Workforce Engagement & Communications Support Specialist plays an essential role within the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment’s (CDLE) Employment & Training (E&T) Division, supporting internal communications, staff engagement, and public relations efforts. Reporting to the Workforce Engagement & Communications Manager, this position is responsible for assisting with a wide array of engagement and communication initiatives across the E&T Division and the Colorado Rural Workforce Consortium (CRWC).

This role includes coordinating staff recognition and engagement activities, managing internal content updates, and supporting communication efforts to keep staff informed and involved. The Specialist will review work with E&T and CRWC staff to ensure websites content is current, accurate, and accessible, making updates as needed. Additionally, the Specialist assists with social media and press release content, facilitates campaign messaging for initiatives such as Workforce Development Month, and collaborates with the Government Policy and Public Relations (GPPR) team to ensure all content aligns with branding standards and digital accessibility requirements.

The Workforce Engagement & Communications Support Specialist also supports event logistics, presentation preparation, success story collection, staff surveys, needs assessments, and content development for key workforce development campaigns. Through these efforts, the Specialist ensures effective communication, fosters staff engagement, and contributes to a positive and well-informed work culture, ultimately supporting CDLE’s mission to empower Colorado’s workforce and strengthen communities.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience Only:

Six (6) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position such as data analysis, strategic communication and stakeholder engagement, event planning, content creation.

OR

Education and Experience:

A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to six (6) years

Preferred Competencies 

  • Demonstrated experience in implementing strategic communications or public engagement plans
  • Experience coordinating and facilitating cross functional meetings and stakeholder engagement 
  • Experience collecting and analyzing communication data 
  • Proficiency with digital communications such as: email marketing platforms, social media, website platforms &design tools such as Adobe & others.  

Required Competencies

Knowledge:

  • Workforce Development and CDLE Programs: Familiarity with the structure, services, and mission of the Colorado Workforce System.

  • Digital Accessibility Standards: Understanding of accessibility requirements to ensure website and communication materials meet compliance standards.

  • Branding and Content Management: Knowledge of branding guidelines, content creation, and website management.

Skills:

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.

  • Organization and Time Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.

  • Event Planning and Logistics: Skills in coordinating event preparation, including presentations and logistical support.

  • Analytical Skills: Ability to monitor and interpret website and social media analytics to inform engagement strategies.

While a salary range is posted for this position, an eventual salary offer is determined by a comprehensive salary analysis, which considers multiple factors including but not limited to education and experience compared to others in the organization doing substantially similar work.
