Responsibilities

Serve as the organization's lobbyist at the state capitol, communicating with members of the Colorado General Assembly, the Governor’s office, and state regulatory agencies.
Monitor state-level legislative and regulatory actions for their impact and effect on Colorado agriculture, farming, and ranching businesses, and rural economies.
Represent the organization on various state policy coalitions and working groups.
Administer the policy development program and guide issue advisory committees in their collaboration.
Coordinate with communications staff to inform members on legislation and regulatory programs.
Write position statements, issue papers, and develop policy action plans to amplify the organization’s advocacy efforts.
Assist the Vice President of Strategy and Advocacy with member education on important policy issues.
Manage the state affairs budget, maintain and file reports with various state agencies.
Support coordination for state meetings and conferences.
Travel is required to represent the organization at county, state, and AFBF meetings.
Perform additional duties as may be assigned or necessary to achieve the mission and objectives of the organization.
