Summary
This position is responsible for managing, coordinating and producing Gamma Phi Beta publications, including The Crescent magazine. Additionally, this position proofreads and edits all communication and marketing materials across the organization’s three entities (the Sorority, Facilities Management Company and Foundation) for syntax, grammar and consistency with the Gamma Phi Beta style and brand voice.
Responsibilities
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Read, evaluate and edit materials submitted to be published and confer with authors regarding changes in content, style, organization or publication.
- Coordinate editorial calendar, content strategy, collection of content and photos, writing, editing, design and production of The Crescent.
- Collaborate with the creative manager on The Crescent’s layout and aesthetic direction and other vendors related to printing and publication.
- Conduct subject interviews for magazine content and for other organizational communications efforts and initiatives.
- Manages all written content for the magazine, including original content creation, in both long and short format.
- Manages contributing writers; edits writing assignments.
- Ensure all internal/external communications have a cohesive voice and meet brand standards.
- Oversee The Crescent inbox and respond to members in a timely fashion.
- Contribute to Gamma Phi Beta print and electronic communications and other related projects and communication materials.
- Edit and contribute to communication and marketing materials for the Foundation and Facilities Management Company.
- Edit and provide writing support to all international marketing initiatives and campaigns, including website, social media posts, email, press releases, promotional materials and event resources.
- Develop and write speeches for Gamma Phi Beta board members and upper management.
- Develop and write blog posts and web content in collaboration with the chief marketing officer and director of marketing.
- Complete writing, editing and proofreading assignments to support Gamma Phi Beta.
- Collaborate on Gamma Phi Beta marketing campaigns, as needed.
- Maintain magazine archives by providing content updates and curating new content for the history website in collaboration with the Ritual and History Committee.
- Update, organize and maintain electronic and hard copy magazine files.
- Maintain, educate and enforce the Gamma Phi Beta Style Guide per AP Style and ensure style guidelines are implemented consistently.
- Respond to inquiries, feedback, comments and questions, as needed.
- Prepare annual budget recommendations.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in a related degree program; or three to four years related experience; or equivalent combination of education, experience and training.
Other Skills, Abilities and Qualifications
- Excellent writing, storytelling, proofreading, editing and interviewing skills.
- Professional experience leading and facilitating editorial processes.
- Knowledge of AP Style.
- Knowledge of prepress proofing (Adobe Acrobat).
- Experience writing and editing for multiple communication platforms, including digital and print.
- Board-level speechwriting experience preferred.
- Demonstrated strength in providing execution of key programs.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Professional, outgoing, guest-service oriented manner.
- Demonstrated ability to excel in a highly collaborative environment.
- Team player with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and effective work practices under pressure while meeting multiple deadlines.
- Familiarity with Greek organizations preferred, but not required.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet Software; Microsoft 365 suite of software; Adobe Creative Suite; presentation software; and publisher software.

International Headquarters staff, International Council, advisory boards, Sorority members, Sorority volunteers, outside vendors, interfraternal peers and Gamma Phi Beta Foundation staff and volunteers.
Location
This position is eligible for remote employment.
Benefits and Compensation
Compensation is commensurate with experience, education and location. The hiring range for this role is $52,000 to $58,000 annually. Gamma Phi Beta offers a full benefits package with an excellent paid-time off package that includes 12 days of vacation plus sick time, personal days, holidays and two weeks of additional paid-time off over the office’s winter break. Benefits include health, life, disability, vision and dental insurance coverage and participation in Gamma Phi Beta’s 401(k) plan after a year of eligible service.
