The hiring salary range for this position is $5,103.50 – $6,126.28/month or $2,551.75 – $3,063.14/semi-monthly depending on qualifications.

As a graphic designer, you will actively participate in the design team by creating inspiring, clear and accessible communications products, from highly technical, detailed reports to short, snappy videos. You’ll join an in-house creative team that includes other communications experts with social media, editing and web specialties. You’ll collaborate on communications that celebrate and support residents of all ages, incomes and abilities, living in cities and towns in a nine-county region from the foothills to the plains. About the Position of Graphic Designer   
This class specification represents only the core areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the needs of the Division.

  • Designs and edits page layouts and graphic elements for print, digital and video production; creates images, layout, color and design; reviews work to ensure adherence with brand and communications standards.
  • Uses the creative project management system consistent with team standards for creating and routing proofs for approval. Follows established team procedures related to file management, naming, storage and archiving
  • Meets with clients to review project needs; gathers information and determines best approach for project design and production; collaborates with clients on ideas and concepts; prepares and implements recommended solutions.
  • Prepares print, digital and video products for use by people of all ages and abilities.
  • Provides graphic support and develops collateral and communication materials which may include promotional items, reports, brochures, newsletters, charts, posters, eblasts, handouts, videos and presentations; ensures materials accurately reflect desired messaging and quality standards.
  • Completes physical print production (such as using heat-adhesive mounting, manual and automatic paper trimming, and foamcore cutting and beveling).
  • Takes, processes and/or acquires photographs and graphic images for web, print and video use.
  • Prepares and updates standards manuals and/or procedures; reviews and edits publications reports, web designs and videos; maintains documentation related to projects and assignment area.
  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders on the coordination and implementation of graphic projects and print, digital and video production; obtains vendor bids and recommends vendor selection; prepares, maintains and updates project status reports.
  • Contributes toward DRCOG’s requirement, as a public entity, to fully comply with the accessibility standards set out within State of Colorado House Bill 2021-1110, Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Provides remediated digital deliverables with error-free summary reports in conformance with WCAG 2.1 AA and PDF/UA (ISO 14289) standards.

Education and experience requirements:

  • Associate’s degree in Art or Graphic Design and three to five years of graphic design with print, web and video experience.  OR  An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
