THE POSITION:

At STACK, the SVP of Public Affairs is responsible for developing and executing the company’s public affairs strategy across North America, ensuring strong relationships with government entities, industry coalitions, community partners, and other stakeholders critical to STACK’s growth.

This executive leader will shape and oversee economic development initiatives, government relations, public policy engagement, and community partnerships that position STACK as a trusted partner in every market we enter.

The Senior Vice President will partner closely with Development, Operations, and executive leadership to identify opportunities, mitigate risks, and advance favorable outcomes for STACK and its clients. The position may be based at STACK’s Denver headquarters or remotely in Virginia, with regular domestic travel. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead STACK’s public affairs function across North America, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy and client priorities.

  • Develop and oversee government relations strategies at federal, state, and local levels, including engagement on permitting, regulatory, tax, and incentive matters.

  • Manage economic development partnerships and initiatives, identifying and securing opportunities that drive investment and long-term growth for STACK and its clients.

  • Build and sustain strong community engagement programs, ensuring STACK is recognized as a responsible corporate citizen and positive economic partner.

  • Represent STACK externally with industry associations, coalitions, and at public forums to advance company objectives and strengthen industry presence.

  • Provide executive-level updates and strategic counsel to senior leadership and the Board of Directors on key policy, regulatory, and community issues.

  • Collaborate with Development teams to support market assessments, site selection, and project-level public affairs strategies.

  • Build and lead a high-performing Public Affairs team, developing talent and scaling capabilities as STACK expands.

THE DETAILS:

  • Location: Denver, San Francisco, Northern Virginia, or Remote

  • Travel: Domestic travel up to 30%

MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, public policy, political science, communications, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).

  • 15+ years of experience in public affairs, government relations, or economic development, preferably within infrastructure, energy, technology, or data centers.

  • Demonstrated success engaging with policymakers, regulators, and community leaders to achieve favorable business outcomes.

  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience briefing senior leadership and boards.

  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage complex initiatives, and influence across diverse stakeholder groups.

  • Deep knowledge of U.S. policy, regulatory, and economic development environments.

Compensation Range:

$285,140.00 – $342,380.00
