Leads a team of School Communications Specialists in delivering strategic, cohort level marketing and communications plans that support high priority schools or departments. Drives initiatives to increase student enrollment and strengthen family engagement, while partnering with school and departmental leaders to execute effective, localized communications. Oversees the full lifecycle of communications efforts including research, planning, content development, design, budgeting, implementation, and performance analysis while ensuring timely, coordinated responses to emerging needs and crises. Collaborates cross functionally to assess needs, set goals, and deliver measurable outcomes, ensuring families are consistently informed and engaged through a range of channels such as digital platforms, events, publications, print materials, and community outreach.

What You'll Do:
- Leads and develops the School Communications team to deliver clear, accessible, and strategic communications that effectively serve the district community. Sets direction for the School Communications program and oversees mid-term planning and execution for a cohort of high priority schools and departments.
- Provides comprehensive, strategic communications support aligned to school and district goals, including branding, marketing, student recruitment and retention, digital and social media, web content, internal communications, media relations, crisis response, and stakeholder engagement. Ensures consistency in messaging and visual identity across all platforms and channels.
- Serves as the primary point of contact and project manager for the cohort, overseeing timelines, resources, budgets, and the successful execution of multiple concurrent projects with strong attention to detail.
- Leads the development and execution of integrated communications plans that drive student enrollment and family engagement. Oversees the creation of high quality communications materials across formats, including digital, print, and event based channels.
- Guides website strategy and supports the development, maintenance, and optimization of district and school websites, including content management and training.
- Fosters cross functional collaboration with school leaders, district teams, community partners, and external vendors to align strategies, ensure high quality execution, and support multilingual communications when needed.
- Leads community engagement efforts, including events and outreach initiatives, and supports media relations activities, including responding to inquiries and serving as a spokesperson when appropriate.
- Contributes to budget planning and decision making related to marketing and school based communications.

What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, communications, public relations or related field, or relevant work experience.
- Three (3) or more years of comprehensive experience in strategic communications, marketing, media relations and/or internal communications.
- Ability to motivate and influence others.
- Ability to effectively lead a team.
- Ability to set goals, work independently and drive results.
- Self-starter/leader who can anticipate department needs in a proactive (versus, reactive) manner.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with individuals at all different levels in the organization.
- Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multicultural environment with district and school leaders, faculty, staff and students.
- Exceptional written and verbal communications skills as well as experience with tailoring messaging to a variety of audiences, including families for whom English is not their first language.
- Outstanding facilitation and communication skills, including ability to inspire others.
- High degree of integrity in handling confidential information.
- Exceptional relationship building, strategic planning, facilitation and project management skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Google Suite products including Docs, Sheets and Gmail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet strict deadlines within a fast paced environment.
- Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
