Job Description:
Assistant General Manager
Job Disclosures:
Location: (On-Site) Denver, CO
Relocation requirement: This is an important leadership pipeline role for Meow Wolf, with a clear and defined path to the General Manager role. Individuals in this role must be open to relocation within the first 12-24 months.
Compensation: The base annual salary range for this position is $123,757 – $142,320. Compensation may vary based on candidate location and experience.
Deadline: The deadline to submit applications for this position is June 23, 2026. Meow Wolf reserves the right to extend this deadline if necessary.
Job Summary:
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) serves as a key operational and leadership partner to the General Manager, ensuring the day-to-day excellence of Meow Wolf's Denver exhibition. The AGM is the GM's primary deputy — stepping fully into the GM role during absences — and owns specific operational domains while championing the guest experience, team culture, and Meow Wolf's values across all departments.
Key Responsibilities:

Serve as the acting General Manager in the GM's absence, maintaining continuity of operations and leadership presence across all departments.

Partner with the GM to execute strategic priorities, translate organizational goals into day-to-day action, and monitor performance across ticketing, food & beverage, retail, facilities, and security.

Drive cross-departmental collaboration and communication, identifying operational friction and resolving it proactively.

Own specific operational domains delegated by the GM and hold those areas to the highest standards of excellence and consistency.

Directly lead, coach, and develop department managers and their teams in alignment with Meow Wolf's values and performance standards.

Support the GM in hiring decisions, onboarding, performance improvement plans, and recognition initiatives.

Model and reinforce a culture of accountability, creativity, playfulness, and belonging throughout the team.

Champion a guest-first mindset at every level of the operation, escalating and resolving guest concerns quickly and thoughtfully.

Monitor real-time guest satisfaction data and partner with department managers to act on feedback and implement improvements.

Regularly conduct floor walks and be a visible, engaged presence during peak operations and events.

Assist the GM in financial forecasting, budget monitoring, and expense control across departments.

Review business performance reports and flag trends, variances, or risks to the GM.

Hold department managers accountable for staying within budget and meeting revenue targets.

Support a culture of safety for both guests and staff, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and Meow Wolf policies.

Partner with the Safety/Security team to monitor and improve safety protocols, incident response, and documentation.

Oversee daily readiness of the exhibition space, coordinating maintenance, cleanliness, and equipment function across all areas.

Ensure all departments are adequately staffed, scheduled, and resourced for daily operations and special events.
Required Qualifications
-
7+ years of progressive leadership experience in hospitality, entertainment, retail, or a related fast-paced, guest-facing industry.

Proven track record of successfully managing multi-department teams and driving operational performance.

Strong financial acumen, including experience with budgeting, forecasting, and expense management.

Demonstrated ability to lead through others, develop managers, and foster high-performing team culture.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and align diverse stakeholders.

Knowledge of health, safety, and compliance requirements in a public-facing facility environment.

Ability to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays as operational needs require.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience managing or supporting operations at an immersive entertainment, cultural institution, theme park, or large-scale events venue.

Familiarity with ticketing systems, POS platforms, and operational reporting tools.

Experience navigating labor relations, union environments, or complex workforce structures.

Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and scanners. This position also works in an indoor setting with exposure to noisy environments, dim lighting, strong visual effects including strobing lights, special effects, fog machines and small and/ or enclosed spaces.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Physical ability to walk, stand, take stairs/slides/elevators, and navigate the elements during the day and night. Employee may be required to remain in a sitting or standing position for prolonged periods, and repeat motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.

Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position that requires the ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
