Job Description

The Associate Director, Sustainability Policy will provide support to the U.S. Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (USRSB) board of directors and membership as well as support to the Sr. Director, Sustainability for NCBA policy sustainability initiatives. With a strong focus on project management, engagement and collaboration, this role will provide support and leadership on USRSB working group and task force activities, working closely with the Sr. Director, Sustainability and USRSB membership to design and execute sustainability initiatives.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

  • Assist with coordinating projects and pilots that advance sustainability in the U.S. beef industry.
  • Support management of USRSB’s Working Groups, Task Forces, and Programs, working alongside other USRSB team members to translate relevant activities, outputs, and/or information into clear assessments and develop resources relevant to membership and broader beef value chain.
  • Prepare agendas, reports, minutes, calendar notices and materials for board and working group meetings.
  • Provide internal and external meeting support logistics (including meeting sites, telephone or video conference arrangements, presentation design, attendee calendar coordination, webinar coordination, travel logistics, onsite needs, etc.)
  • Assist in planning the General Assembly meeting (including site visits, save the date communications, presentation design, board meeting materials, general assembly meeting materials, presenter coordination, registration, etc.)
  • Assist in managing the election process for officers and directors.
  • Assist in review and maintenance of policies and procedures, and corresponding governing documents.
  • Develop and facilitate new member and board of directors on-boarding program.
  • Process new member applications and maintain membership database.
  • Distribute new member materials.
  • Respond to member inquiries and requests, from mail, email and phone calls.
  • Plan, organize and maintain necessary files, mailing lists, prospect lists, and timelines to maximize membership and revenue development efforts.
  • Support staff and leadership on other policy sustainability initiatives such as the Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (GRSB).
  • Other job duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • EDUCATION – Bachelors’ degree, Master’s degree preferred, in Animal Science, Agriculture Business, Sustainable Development, Leadership, Business, or related field is required.
  • EXPERIENCE – Must have 4 years of experience. Project management experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is required. Familiarity with member funded organization governance desired.
  • EQUIVALENCY – None.
  • CERTIFICATION(S) – Project management certification preferred.
  • SKILLS – Collaboration, integrity, personal ethics, and the desire to be a “team player” is desired.  A successful candidate must demonstrate resourcefulness, be a self-starter who is motivated to achieve, display initiative, and have the energy and composure to handle multiple projects and work amicably and effectively with all external partners and internal staff. This individual will be evaluated on the results of work performed and will be encouraged to grow within the organization.  The individual must possess exceptional communication (both written and oral) and interpersonal skills, be detail and deadline oriented.
