Mesa County Public Health was formed in 1948 as a political subdivision of the State. We provide a wide range of public and environmental health services to Mesa County residents and, in some programs, the region.

JOB SUMMARY
As a member of our Communications and Marketing team, this position works to help guide Mesa County Public Health in the development, implementation, and execution of strategic communication materials to increase the value of Public Health and the programs and services we offer. Our team is looking for a creative thinker with strong attention to detail, excellent writing ability, and project management skills.
Essential Duties
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

- Possess verbal, written, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- In collaboration with the communication team, coordinate agency branding efforts to maintain a consistent brand voice and message.
- Review and understand Public Health best practices and guidelines in order to communicate recommendations to the public.
- Brainstorm and develop multimedia campaigns, create templates, calls to action, and content.
- Assist communication manager in making data-driven decisions. Measure, report, and optimize communications including paid marketing campaigns using dashboards, Google Analytics, and other reporting tools.
- Build and maintain a rich-content communications plan that attracts the appropriate audience to our distribution platforms (including websites, social media, interactive elements and videos, presentations, etc.).
- Work with program managers, the executive team, and external partners (i.e. designers, sales reps) to produce relevant content that meets the needs of our programs and audience.
- Keep websites for Mesa County Public Health up to date with relevant content.
- Remain current with digital marketing trends and anticipate new strategies, including updates to social media marketing, attribution, and multi-platform media buying.
- Work to improve internal communications within the agency through management of intranet site, monthly agency newsletter, signage, and other materials to improve agency culture and workplace satisfaction.
- Address questions, concerns, and complaints from our community members by responding to calls, emails, and social media comments or messages.
- Assist communication manager to prepare talking points essential for community understanding, to be used for staff reference as well as media interviews.
- Monitor, track, and document media coverage to ensure a consistent, clear message is presented to the community. Assist monitoring media coverage of Mesa County Public Health and public health issues.
NON ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Participates in emergency planning and response activities.
- Participates in agency-wide activities that may include strategic planning, quality improvement, and/or staff development, as appropriate.
- Completes necessary training through FEMA, including Incident Command Structure (ICS) courses.
- When a local declaration of emergency or disaster is declared by County leadership, employees may be required to work as part of a National Incident Management System (NIMS).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Education and Experience
- Completed or in progress of earning a Bachelor’s degree in mass communication, marketing, or other relevant field.
- Demonstrable experience in mass communication, marketing, or graphic design.
- Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job.
Licenses, Certifications and Registrations
- A valid Colorado driver’s license with a responsible driving record.
Computer and Technology
- Knowledge and ability with Google Applications including Gmail and Drive.
- Experience with graphic design software such as Canva, Piktochart, and Adobe Suite.
Supplemental Information
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
This position requires standing, stooping, sitting, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 10 pounds.
Work is generally confined to a standard office environment.
